flint Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Well a bunch of my biddies are all into fast import cars and usually run their mouths faster than their car will go. I am getting ready to build a 2nd shee for draggind and they are all convinced that either light to light or 1/4 mile they can walk all over my banshee with any one of their turbo m3's, eclipse, or supra. I am just curious on what you guys recomend for gearing? I will not be using a 4 mil or anythign crazy. the race will take place on asphault. Let me know what ya guys think Josh Quote
dajogejr Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 1/4 mile is a stretch for a stocker motor.. If you got a lowered, stretched and lightened stock motor with a helluva drag port, you could see low 11's in the 1/4. A healthy running and we setup 120hp methanol banshee is mid 10 seconds in the 1/4...give or take. Two things, you have to gear your bike to have enough for the 1/8 mile and you have to have the motor to pull it. A bone stock bike will run out of gear before the 1/8 mile....so sitting there at max speed and max RPM for more than half the track is pointless..... Quote
kubitza123 Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Get some full drag port cy's or cub if you want to asphalt race and smoke them. tHERES A STOCK STROKE CUB WITH 5 HOURS ON IT CY'S ONLY JUST LISTED ON EBAY FOR $350 BUY IT NOW MAYBE WANT TO PICK THAT UP IF ITS STILL THERE. Quote

Let me know what ya guys think Josh The shorter the distance will be an advantage in your situation. 1/4 mile is for very few and that's why there's very few doing it. We have run low 10s on a 100hp gas cub and also have a basically stock banshee. The stock banshee only has T-5 pipes, cool head, struts and asphalt tires. It has run 13.20 something at a slow track with 14/41 gearing. We have ran other gearing and it slows down. Best ET in the 1/4 came with it hanging it's lungs out in 6th before the 1/8 mile. I don't recommend this for the inexperienced 1/4 mile person. Quote
flint Posted July 11, 2009 Author Report Posted July 11, 2009 well i am actually going to try to do this with parts that I hvae kicking arrounf the house. I have some v force 2 reeds, dynoport exhaust (not 2into1), carbs with tors removed, and a adjustable timeing plate. I doubt we will ever go a full 1/4 mile. Most likely it will be like street light to street light. Thanks for all the good info guys. Mabye once I complete my 1st built the old ladie wont be on my ass about buying parts. LOL I better let her cool off for a bit. Josh Quote
