All,

I just bought a 2000 banshee and it will only idle. Guy claims it ran fine before I bought it. Starts right up and idles, but giving it gas doesn't do anything. It only makes a weird noise, like the timing is off. Almost coughing or something. Can't describe. I have pulled the carbs and cleaned them. pilot jet is 52, main jet 158. Keihin 29pwk, vforce reeds, billit crossover intake, NOSS head, T6 pipe/silencers, k&n clamp on filters. Any ideas? I could shoot a video on my phone and email if that would help. I am at a loss. Thanks.

I cut a wrong wire and it did that to me. Theres a plug that was together and it looked unnecessary so I cut it. It coughed like you said anything more than idle. For me it was the wire (yellow/black for my 2000) that was right after where you cut the t.o.r.s. I really suck with wiring so its hard to explain but i'm sure someone else can chime in and help you out. Sounds like wiring for sure though.

the parking brake stuff is still attached to the handlebars, but the cable is removed. I pulled the rubber boot back and there was a busted cable tie that was used to hold the parking brake in the off position. It ran just fine after that. What is the best way to remove that stuff and prevent it from heppening? my bashee still has all the lights and stock handlebar controls.

There is a wire up by the parking brake, I forget if it needs to be grounded for the bike to run of it needs to be left a open circuit.

Try either way, its not gonna hurt anything.
