I have a stock shee as I only have K & N pod filters as a mod. (Like to keep things simple) I tried running 220 mains and 25 pilots, but it seems to be lean. I kinda need advice on how far to increase either for the conditions stated in the topic... I tried searching for topics with my same elevation and temp. but could not find any. I was looking to go to 280 mains and 27.5 pilots, but I am unsure. Just looking for a starting point.

Thanks!

dont ride the bike anymore untell you get bigger main jets...I dont know shit about the stock pipes. But if your running pods you should deff be in the 280's if not higher. And as for jetting for the 65deg to 90deg is hard. you will have to do your jettin when its the coldest or you will have a lean mix down low. Just remember when it gets hotter you will get richer for jetting. And im guessing the Pilots should be fine. but work on the main jetting first then the needle then the pilots. here is a good site I use all the time when I forget shit...

Great!!!

Thanks for the advice. I have been doing some more checking and it seems between 280 & 320 is the range to be in... I will start there and find the happy medium

Thanks again

I am up to 300 mains and it seems to be close. Getting to WOT it sounds good, but tops out quicker than I feel it should. The problem I have now is the 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. It sounds bad. I have the pilots up to 30 and tried changing airscrew from 1.5 to 2 with no change. Do I need to go up one on both the mains and pilots?

it seems as if I am getting closer... I pulled them again and changed to a 320 Main and 27.5 Pilot, 2 turns out on the air screw and changed the needle settings. Noted one needle on 2nd from tappered end on one and 3 from the tappered end on the other. Both now on 3rd from blunt end as my needle has 6 slots.

Does the Shee not like the low rpm of putting around the yard in 1st? Cause when I get on it - it reacts very well!! It also seems to top out quickly in the low gears. is this normal?

Thanks for all the help!!!!

the problem sounds like your needle, not the mains. you really shouldn't need 320's with stock pipes and no portwork, unless your gass is really, really old. her's how it works, roughly.

+1000ft = -1 size main.

remove snorkel and lid+3

remove airbox,= possibly+1

high humidity, go down

low humidity, go up

more oil in the mix= richen up

with any other variables, you could be different, as every engine is unique.

you would likely be in the range of 230-250. you would need pipes/portwork to put you in those higher ranges. if you are running pump, 90-93, then do a plug chop. always start with the mains(wot) pickup some stock needles and tune them, then move to the pilots, which shold start with 25, and the airscrews @ 1.5 turns out.

another thing that will make you think it needs to be rich is an airleak. check for those by spraying carb cleaner around your intake boos/reeds, and base gaskets while it's idling. when the engine changes, you found it. also helps to move the carbs around to find any partial crack leaks in the intakes.

the 6 clip needles usually are long and thick to lean out the low/ mid throttle, accomidating for large main jets.

also, check your silencers, as that will effect the jetting as well.

Itried what you stated to no avail. I put in two new needles with the clip in the middle, 250 mains & 25 pilots. Now I can not get it to idle (which was not a problem before) and it revs very low. WOT is sluggish and slow. Tried 290 mains & 25 pilots with the same results.

WHAT NOW?

At 1000 ft i don't see you being over 300 mains. For stock pipes and no porting there really isn't a reason to be over 25 on your pilots. The idle is the least of your problem. That can be fixed with the turn of a dime.Stick with them 290s or 300s and lower the clip one notch. You're right around ballpark just gotta tweak it a bit.

My ol' ladys banshee runs 190 mains and 27.5 pilot while my father in laws Banshee runs 300 mains and 27.5 pilots both piped,no porting, and air box drilled with K&N's.In Michigan about 750' above sea level i think and about 75 degrees...I know shit is way off but they both run friggin top notch lol
