gregrob Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Depends on the percentage you mix it. I would give a rough rough guess of 2 main jet sizes for 10-15% mix Just a rough guess though Quote
brian102 Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 im seriously wondering how you know that? hah scary but it really does help Quote
AKheathen Posted June 27, 2009 Author Report Posted June 27, 2009 click the link to find out. it's the blue words in the post Quote

AKheathen Posted June 28, 2009 Author Report Posted June 28, 2009 haha, so you already got rick-rolled? what's that banshee billet thing? doesn't look like i'll try it for a while. i'm goin to work wed. and strait out campin when i get home 3 wks. later Quote
brian102 Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 yeah ive been numerous times on here and like other forums just for computers though not quads:) haha try the xylene already i wanna know! lol Quote
FireHead Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 It seems to me it would be a hell of a lot easier to mix in some methanol if your sole intent is to boost octane cheaply. Old timers have been doing it for a long time. Just adjust your jetting for the percentage you plan to run. BTW methanol is 127 octane ;-) The methanol blend route is probably the best thing mentioned in this thread other than actually using race fuel.... Beyond that if folks were spelling xylene correctly, then they could find this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylene ...............which explains what it is noramlly used for and is very similar to toluene. Neither of which is a brilliant solution for crafting a high performance fuel. In tiny amounts, they can add some desireably characteristics to a fuel, but that is not generally what happens with backyard fuel blenders who treat such things much like dumping a quart of octane booster into a tank of fuel. My $.02 is to that y'all are better off not bothering yourself with this stuff. You are better off setting up an engine to run with a highly oxygenated fuel as opposed to trying to chemically avoid detonation if you don't want to run race fuel. Quote

brian102 Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 yeah those octane boosters are really worthless arent they haha yeah i had noticed you spelled it wrong but we all knew what you meant:P Quote
