Ive been running k&n individual air cleaners.... im still tweaking my jetting..Im down to 142 on the mains...(38mm keihn carbs on a 535 non ported engine) Im thinking the k&n's are somewhat restictive compared to foam type air cleaners so it will require a smaller main jet than a foam filter....Figure with all the suction inside the carb that it would suck fuel out the main a bit more then with the foam filters.... can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

Anytime you change anything in the intake track, portwork, or exhaust you could possibly need to rejet. Changing any one of these will allowing more or less air pass through the motor depending on what you change thus requires rejetting if it is enough of a differance. With pods, and pipes, a good starting point for near sea level is 310 mains, 27.5 pilots, needle middle clip, 2.5 turns on air screw for stock carbs, for after market keihns it should be about 150-155 main, 45-48 pilot, CEL needle middle clip, 2.5 turns on air screw. One of those should be fairly close.

holy bat fuck do you even read the guys post before you spout shit out.

he is talking a 535cc motor with 38 carbs.

he was trying to figure out why going from foam air filters to kn pods cause his motor to want lower jetting and your throwing info out like everyday jetting for a stock bike.

read the post.

to lt1bird maybe one is a lil more restrictive or something hard to say with seeing the bike or filters.

are both of filters clean.

Its all good....

The k&n are new....oiled from the factory....I have not put the pods on this bike but they always seem to flow real well on other bikes ive had.... My jetting is very close to another person jetting on this forum with similar mods....he also has k&n's im pretty sure..

My bike runs great...just seems like its not fully getting on the pipe at wot(a tad rich)...at 1/2 throttle it gets on the pipe nice.... im gonna keep lowering the main until ive gone to far and it feels lazy.....then ill go back richer a bit....

Thanks!

everytime i see a wesw post I end up stopping everything, snapping out of it after a few minutes of hypnotic stare. then remember I was going to say something. foam prob flos more air= bigger jets, slightly less jetting vacuum effect, the k&n pods will be slight more restrictive, less air and more "choke" pulling in more fuel, so with that swap most likely jets will need to drop a tad.
