Misssppelllleddd Posted June 7, 2009 Report Share Posted June 7, 2009 I ran a 1980's Ford Escort GL in the 4 cylinder figure 8 demo derby last year. It seemed to run really well but it couldn't take hits very well. I even put spray foam in the front fenders. All it took was just one hit on my right front fender to put me out of the race. I was just wondering what kind of car should I look for to run this year and I want it to last at least a couple races. I know it really matters on how well I drive but I want a car that can be beaten up and still run. Preferably a rear wheeled drive car. My friend just told me that a Ford Pinto would be really good. It would be a tank pretty much but I'm not sure if I can find one of those around. AWR Posted June 9, 2009 Report Share Posted June 9, 2009 chrysler imperials are THE BEST DERBY CAR EVER MADE.shame they are illegal in most derbies.they are tanks without tracks.one of my buddies used to run asphalt derbies and he loved early 60's fords with y block engines(292)most common.they run a long time without coolant.
