Fireroad Express Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 when people talk sand tires, i hear the term "roll-out" used. is this how far the tire will travel with one 360 degree rotation of the tire? (circumference)? if not, can someone please fill me in. i run on gravel roads and wide trails and have never seen a sand dune in my life, so i'm not real farmiliar with some of these terms. thanks! Personally, I think the term "roll out" is a bit retarded. Seems someone made that one up because the proper term "circumference" did not make sense. I think the proper term should be used but "roll out" seems the trendy phrase. B Quote

Tf705 Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 i need to buy paddles in the next few weeks. i know i want 10 paddle haulers but i dont know what size. everybody is telling me to get 22's and not 20's. what is the advantage of a taller tire? i know its something to do with rollout. Quote
sheefreak Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 It depends what kinda riding you do. The taller tire will provide more of a footprint on the ground at one time which gives much better traction. There is no comparison between a 10 paddle 20 inch hauler and a 22 inch 10 paddle w/a decent rollout(70-72). The down side of the big tire and rollout is they are not a duning tire. For one, most of the big rollout tires are buffed real thin and don't hold up to sticks, rocks, etc... Also, you start to get tire roll when doing hard turns w/the big rollout. Quote
