kingkong Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 to the guys spraying nitrous on your bikes...can you spray yo bike with alcohol or do you spray it with gas...i know how to set it up for gas...jus wondering how do you set it up if you on alcohol Quote
kubitza123 Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 If your running your quad on alky you need to make a seperate res. to hold race gas to spray in with the NOS. You do not have to but your fuel pump, nozzles, jets etc will last alot longer if not forever. Alky will slowly ruin those parts if you spray with it. Trust me i have talked with Mcoys performance and many others on here and atvdragers etc and 95% of people spray with gas when running their engines on methonal. Quote
quadgod211 Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 i am currently spraying alky on alky.....it works but not that great,,, alky is cold and nos is cold and it makes for just a cold wet motor like kubitza said you will have to change the plunger in the fuel selaniod and the fuel pump wont last long plus you will have to purge the pump.... also you will prolly need more jets..alky jetting is 4 point dpread instead of gasoline were its a 2 point gap in the next month or so i will be changing my kit over to gas on alky...it will heat up the charge and make a lil more torque in some cases plus when done racing and purge time comes you just turn your alky tank off and turn you nos bottle off and leave your nitrous kit on and run your bike on the gasoline from the nos kit by shooting it through the nozzles...and that purges your hole motor,,kit and all with out switching hoses or anything....... either way you choose once you get your bike dialed in you will love it........... matt Quote
kingkong Posted May 28, 2009 Author Report Posted May 28, 2009 i was thinking of adding another seperate tank anyway just making sure...thanks guys Quote
dajogejr Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Odd...a lot of the guys here run Alky/alky with NOS... Quote
shanYE west Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Odd...a lot of the guys here run Alky/alky with NOS... Thats what I was thinkin... I dont remember seeing anyone use gas for the enrichment here.. Quote
kubitza123 Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 You dont have to but its alot easier on the pump etc and then you dont have to purge it and you can use your inrichment to purge you engine when your done as well. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 I used my fuel pump for two years and a lot of methanol through it...and gave it to fouled out. The methanol doesn't hurt the pump...it'll corrode the crank and bearings if not purged... I can understand others wanting to use gas as the fuel enrichement to start out... But the other statements really don't hold much water. I use 20:1 for my purge, I wouldn't want to drain the second tank, put in purge fuel, etc...that's more of a hassle. My plan is to run an aluminum fuel tank and a Pingle Guzzler. One side to my fuel pump for the motor, the other side for the fuel pump for the NOS... With my fuel pump, I get more than enough fuel from the stock fuel valve and my pump... Quote

dajogejr Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Same here. I got two pumps from Tedder, two rebuild kits. I rebuilt the one I got...but it didn't need it...I just had the kit and was more or less curious about how they worked inside. Quote
quadgod211 Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 are you guys running the old pump or the newer nitrous pumps??? i have the old 1 that looks like a a skiny pop can kinda...lol the old dude at n/x told me that they have a new style pump that while not being use cycles itself to keep from burning up..... if i dont run gas through mine after a weekend of racing the next time i turn it on it pisses out orange looking rust stuff...so thats why i think it needs replaced...... im also spraying behind the carbs and thats not working as good as i figured....... so im re doing my shit.......
