DallasGDub Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 So this weekend got the bike out, everything seemed to run great. I noticed the transmission slipping randomly. It seemed to do it as I was wiping the back around to the right. Also on fast open strait aways. First I thought it was excessive wheel spin. After a while I could tell it would slip, and then catch gear. Other than that, shifting seems normal. It is a little harder to find neutral, takes more for foot force to move the shifter, not much (just more than normally.) Quote
2001Stroker Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 If it ain't making grinding noises, or sounding like teeth are skipping, I'd say it's a clutch problem. How old it your clutch? Is it adjusted right? EDIT: I just read the last sentence. I wonder if your shift shaft or a fork is bent. Quote
DallasGDub Posted May 23, 2009 Author Report Posted May 23, 2009 Well it is pretty loud when this happens, so I don't hear much of anything behind the motor. I did notice a winding/gear sound coming from behind the sprocket area when lugging around in second gear. But not grinding. Clutch is new (FAST), pancake, all seems to be adjusted. If i go on the street in a strait line, shifts and pulls hard. Only when I whip it around it slips. Quote
2001Stroker Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 So, it's popping out of gear, and then slamming back in gear. And when it happens, it's obviously making a hell of a noise, because the cogs slamming into each other. I've never seen that happen personally. I'm trying to think what would cause it. Are you sure your foot isn't barely hitting the shifter, and making it get between gears? Do you have a modded shift star? Quote
DallasGDub Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Posted May 24, 2009 You are right on with what I am describing. Also, it does not do it when I whip the back to the left. Only the right. No loud sounds, but def seems like it is coming out of gear, and then back in. The tires even show this b/c they start spinning as soon as it catches. I stopped riding when I noticed it. I tested it and did a donut to the left, slipslipslip And to the right.....all seems ok. I got size 7 kiddie feet and a PD shifter. Even with my boots on, it has never gotten in the way. I had my leg hiked up with my head in the motor driving around to see wtf was goin on and it was still doing it. No shift star all stock other than clutch and pancake. Quote
