ALASKANbanshee Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 I was riding over the weekend, mostly random drags and hillclimbs, when I downshifted, a little too early, and my banshee just start making a weird noise, the exhaust pipe 'fell'from it original postion, and it stopped running. I can get it to run now but it sounds fucked up and i dont kknow what it is. HELP!!! Quote
patrickkomar Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) well first things first, if your ass and your ears tell you some things wrong for gods sake listen it will save you loads of cash in the long run! Next what do you mean when you say the exhaust fell from it's original position? I would run a compression test on both cylinders and see if you hooked a ring or maybe damaged a piston before you do any more riding! Edited May 18, 2009 by patrickkomar Quote
Rodneya Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 the exhaust pipe 'fell'from it original postion, and it stopped running. HELP!!! what do you mean by fell. More info needed. Your post does not really explain much. Quote
boneyardbanshee. Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) Yep need some more specific info. What does the noise sound like? Fell?? No more running till you tear some of it down. Start with the head and look at your pistons to check you rings. From there I would make sure one of your crank bearings didnt fail. But what ever you do, NO more running. When I first built mine, on the first ride, I blew a crank bearing and it screwed my rings up on one side. Luckly I shut it down as soon as it happened. Put a new piston and crank and have been running it for over two years now (on that same bore). If I would have run it anymore I probably would not have been so fortunate. ALASKANbanshee Posted May 18, 2009 Author Report Posted May 18, 2009 By 'exhaust fell" i mean my pipe was hnging lower than it should have. when i tried to run it it there was a ping, or something coming from the middle of the engine. Quote
AKheathen Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 holly shit! 1 more for the AK. so was that pipe leaking alot of exhaust? what jets are you running? what fuel are you running? check your compression. check the reeds- is one of the carbs spitting fuel out the backside? where do you ride? have you checked out jim creek lately? blowit Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Replace the plugs. They can fail if the pipe falls off. Put pipe back on and change the plugs. Brandon Quote
ALASKANbanshee Posted May 18, 2009 Author Report Posted May 18, 2009 where do you ride? have you checked out jim creek lately? I was at jim creek last weekend there is alittle mud from the rain, other than that it is good to ride. one of my moms friends went to the glaceir and said it was really muddy. Quote
