2001Stroker Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Muratic Acid. You can get it at a local pool supply. Mix it with water. Start with about 1 cup of acid to 1 gallon of water. If that doesn't work, make the mix a little bit stronger. Be careful, because when it's working, it bubbles heavily. Try not to get it on your chrome. Not sure if it will eat it or not. Be careful, because it makes the metal hot. *WEAR A RESPIRATOR AND RUBBER GLOVES* Quote
Hilarious Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 i would say try some brake clean or some berryman.... Quote
GrMeyer Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Hey what do you know im a pool guy...yeah Acid will work and you can get it a homedepot as well... and when you do it make sure your by the hose for running water...you can get it on chrome it is fine. it will clean it... but dont let it sit to long. I mix some soap in mine so it will stay in place and just not run off. donesnt take much soap. but the gloves are a plus and the respirator is not really needed if your out side... just dont huff the shit... Larry's Shee Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Bake in oven at 450 for 45 min, turn once, get divorced, or nuts cut off. Just kidding, maybe rattle handfull of small/med nuts around to help break it up. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 You could try Sea Foam... Is it possible to shoot glass beads from a sand blasting cabinet down the exhaust? It worked great for carbon removal on a 350 block head I had. Quote
AKheathen Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 i noticed putting heat to it melted it away. made a nice mess with my project. Quote

It worked great for carbon removal on a 350 block head I had. I have a glass beader at work & that's what I did. I wouldn't reccomend it to just anyone though the way a 2 stroke scavenges from the exhaust pipe if there's one speck of glass left it will suck back in your motor which would not make for a happy camper. I also have a hot tank/caustic washer that I soaked them in for 2 days after I glssed them & then washed them like 3 times in the castic spray cabinent & rinsed with a high pressure sprayer for 20 minutes then blew them out with 150psi shop air till good & dry. Just typing that tires me out, I think the muratic acid would be easier. I used to use it when I worked in masonary to clean brick & rock it should work good. It will rust metal if its not rinsed off fairly quick though, from my experience anyway. Quote
