i have a 97 banshee i just picked up with clutch problems. i took off the rh case and the plates and also the actuator arm. i found that the actuator had lots of weld material on it and the push rod was stuck in place. i was wondering if i could possibly break it free with a hammer from the right side but am not familar with how far the push rod should move into the actuator arm hole, or if possibly i could blow it right through the left side of the motor. Also i heard that i might be able to drill into the rod and then screw into it and pull it out, any thoughts on this, like damage to the shaft? Also does the actuator hole drain into the tranny or is there a bottom, as I fear that shavings have fallen in there as well, maybe a magnet to take them out. Any ideas at all would help and thanks for your time and consideration.

imo if you cannot use a magnet to pull the ball and rod out from the clutch side it might be time to split the case.

the hole in the clutch shaft goes all the way through so if you were able to remove the actuator arm then you should be able to look through the hole and see if the end of the rod is mangled so bad you cant pull it back through the clutch side.

i dont think you will be able to drill it since it's more than likely the ball got welded to the end of the rod, the ball and rod are made of some pretty hard stuff and your more likley to mess up the inside of the shaft trying to drill it....

Pull the motor and split the cases upside down. Then you will not have to remove your top end. It is really simple and you wont have to worry about messing anything else up. I had to do it when I welded the ball to the pushrod and it was very simple. Also invest in a pancake bearing for your pressure plate and you wont have it happen again. So you will need a new ball, actuator, and should get a pancake bearing. Clean up your pushrod but be sure to just remove enough to get the welded metal off. With the bearing its gonna cost you about 70-80 bucks.
