XXDEF1ANTXX Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 should i spend the money to replace my pistons if they are slightly pitted? does polishing the head make a difference? and lastly i got some mater in my engine... what do i do to correct the issue? Quote
R. Rollins Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Two part question: When you say you have some matter in the engine do you mean something is the matter with the engine or do you mean matter like material and metal debris? Secondly, If I saw chunks of piston chipped off or something along those lines I would immediately consider a tear down and inspection of the engine. At the most it could cost is the gaskets and time. You could do a top end on it if you think its bad enough to warrant it. The previous owner may have allowed dirt to get at the intake through not cleaning the air filter and ensuring a tight seal around it. The dirt got in and caused that damage, but who knows. I would post pictures up here and let some of the experts here help you diagnose this problem. These guys have been doing this for a long time. Ray  Quote
