Well recently have gotten interested in turning my trail shee into an 1/8 quad. The setup is listed in my sig. It runs decent for what it is. Now for the questions What size extended swing arm and not run a wheelie bar? What length struts for the front and rear? Is strutting the front ok? What size tire for the front and rear? Quote

What size tire for the front and rear? i think with your mods you'll get away with a +8 swinger.and later on if you get more motor work,you can always add a wheelie bar. the length of the struts are determined by the hight you want.you should have no less than 2" of space between frame and black top. yes scotter tire for front and 18-10-10 on 10X9 rims would be a good start.. tidos76 Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 If you are wnting to make it a regular thing, get/make a wheelie bar. i have seen bikes(high power) with +14 flip. with your nod i;d say you would be ok with a +6/+8, but you will still have to slip the clutch some. launching at the track is a whole diff stor than launching on the street in front of your house. Its like racing on fly paper. like tony said you want atleast 2" clearance. I set everything to level. lower it to were the a arms are level then take your measurement. THEN lower the rear till the singer is level and measure. make sure you take the measurements with the tire you are going to be running. and its better to be a lil higher than too low. Quote
Sammy Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 Yea I was thinking a +8 would do. I've read good things on the American Racer sd23 compound tires, so I'll add those to the list. As far as gearing goes, I'm currently geared 14/44 do you guys think this is to low for the 1/8? I've got to buy a new chain for the swing arm so I figured why not change gearing if I need to. Quote
trex banshee Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 with those mods listed id say a +8 is gonna be long, also for gearing just put a 41 on the rear with the 14 on the front and youll be good to go. the american racer sd23 is a good tire, thats what i want but just cant afford them, get the 20x8x10 sd23. Then you wont have to buy new tires when you get some motor work done and better pipes. It will probably be too much tire at first but just gear accordingly so like i said you wont have to buy new tires later. on height like tidos said set the arms and swinger level to the ground but if not level a little higher is better than lower. trex banshee Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 actually with your engine and if you buy the 20x8x10 tires id leave that gearing on it. Stock motor is gonna have a little hard time if you gear any higher than that id think. Quote

I only run a +4 but i have a wheelie bar. you could probably get away with a +4 but you wont be able to straight dump it, you'll hvae to feather it a hair. Quote
