quadgod211 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 im gonna try this again since no 1 could come up with anything on the mods forum...maybe i was just in the wrong part of the forum....anyways here the question.... is 190lbs compression to much for nitrous???? its a 30 shot on alky with the timing at +3 squish is at .035.5 just running 300ft and i don't wanna put more then the connecting rods can handle ..and i would just like to know the max comp a shee can handle on a 4 mill hotrods crank...also does anyone know a way of calculating how much compression ratio or pounds of compression i would have after adding the 190lbs + 30shot??? matt Quote

Im no nos expert but I think its to high and to much squish I would set it up with about 170 pounds of compression with around 45 squish and about +6-7 timing matt Quote
quadgod211 Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 jim at passion cut the domes and set it up with that squish and compression,,,,i told him im running nitrous and he seemed to be okay with it ,,,it seeems like a lil much to me with that high of compression,,,,the squish i can work with cuase im just running 300ft and it wont be winding out the gears like it would on the 1/8 or 1/4.... jim cut my domes at 18.5 cc and i cant run timing that high on nos...they say the rule of thumb is for every 10 hp shot... retard the timing 1.5...so im gonna dial the bike in on motor at around +7 or +8 im figuring....then when i spray it ill retard it down to around +3 or +4 for a 30hp shot.... i just dont know about dumping all that NOS on a already 190lbs.......if it does work it should have plenty of bottom end Quote
alcoholbanshee Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 I would agree that the squish is awfully tight.........I would like to see it around .045ish............ I always ran my nitrous engines around 160-170 psi compression. Quote
quadgod211 Posted April 19, 2009 Author Report Posted April 19, 2009 so if blow 30hp shot on 190lbs the rods arent gonna fold up on me are they????? Quote

quadgod211 Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 well i have yet to check the real squish just got it together.....but jim engraved the 18.5cc and then it says .035 beside it..does that mean squish you think???? does anyone have any clue yet what the failing point is on cranks and rods in terms of compression????
