watkins Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 I am helping a buddy with my old banshee that I traded him... Anyways he is saying that when he was riding it the other day all of a sudden there was no tension on the clutch lever what soever and that he could move the clutch actuator arm with his fingers with no resistance.... Ok my first thought it the adjustment screw broke loose, but then he tells me he is able to get the bike moving and then 5min later it starts working again and then about 5 min after that the tension goes away.... I have not yet seen the bike but my only thought would be that the little clamp that holds the actuator arm down in the case came off and the arm is able to move up and down.... Any other ideas? I would definitely think it to be an internal issue but what has me thrown for a loop is that it is intermittent. He will be looking at the bike later tonight just wanted to see what everyone else thought.. Strange. Quote

watkins Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 Well, the arm does not move up and down.. So.... I am totally off on this one... if he lost all tension and that was that then I would say OK probably the internal adjuster came out. But that as he was limping it back to camp that all tension came back and it started working fine only to have it crap out again... thats messing with my mind. Quote
AKheathen Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 i'e seen it happen with both adjusters and plates. most likely just the adjuster not locked down. was it slipping when there was no tension? Quote
magz Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 mike bike did something similar, was at LS riding good then all of the sudden it was like my cable snapped. like nothing was there on the clutch at all, turned out the keeper ear tab broke and the nut under the pressure plate backed off...put a new keeper on and tightened it back down and it was good as new....cost me a 12$ gasket though....
