Hey everyone,

I have read the above posts on jetting over and over and I still cannot figure out the problem with my banshee after putting about 2-3 hours in re-jetting it. The mods are FMF Gnarly pipes, K&N filter without airbox lid, trinity port, wiseco pistons, V- force reeds, boost bottle (even though I hear they are worthless) 4 mm crank and trinity cool head.

I have stock carbs with the electric junk removed off the top. Currently I have 320 main jets, needle clip moved up 1 from stock, and the pilots are 25. I checked the plugs and the one plug is darkish brown while the other plug is barley even brown its more white. When I go to start it up it idles fine for a minute and sounds good in high RPMs but then starts to bog down after I give it minimal throttle. It stalls right after I try to go and let the clutch out and try to take off in low RPMs. What should I change? It seems like the pilots are too low and its really lean but I had 32.5 pilots with 300 main and it was running rich, plugs were black. Would it be the air/fuel mixture screw? What exactly does the air/fuel mixture screw do when adjusted?

Any advice would be great or just tell me what I should mess around with to get this thing running.

Thanks alot,

Pete

I had similiar mods, with T5's

340-350 main

32.5 pilot

needle in the middle.

Now im no expert on jetting, but this may be a good starting point for you, every bike is going to be different.

Yeah I had the 32.5 in it with 300 main jets and the needle in the middle and it was still not running right. Pulled the plugs with those settings and it looked rich so I might go with the 27.5 pilots and see what that does. The only thing I am still confused about is the air/ fuel mixture screw and how to adjust that and what it affects. Is there a certain number of turns out that the air screw should be at?

Oh yeah my elevation is about 900 ft. running in temps around 65-85 F.

Any other advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

A 27.5 pilot should be fine, if 300 mains are to rich jet down to a 290 and see if that helps.

On a side note, the brass washer is installed under the main jet on both carbs? I lost one of mine and figured it wouldn't hurt anything but then it started acting up on me. In the end it fucked the carb up.

Yeah the washer is in both carbs. I was riding all day with the banshee and messing with the jetting. I have a 320 main, needle moved up 1 clip and I moved the pilot to a 32.5 and you have to rev it to high RPM's to get it to take off but once its high RPM's it runs almost perfect and absolutly screams. Why would it have a hard time getting off the start in the low end? It bogs untill it stalls when you go to take off. Is it too lean or too rich? like i mentioned the current pilot is a 32.5.

have you synced your carbs yet? which side is the plug white? the arscrews regulate how much air passes by the pilot jet. this is the idle to between 1/8&1/4 throttle mixture only. the boost bottle will lean the pilot, so if you are keeping it, you may want a 30 pilot, but get a 27.5 in case. set the needle at the top knotch (clip closest to the blunt end) and try that. the uneven plug readings needs to be adressed. it could be an air leak, clogged jet, choke tube, reed, etc..

No actually I have not synced the carbs. They are brand new stock carbs with the TORS taken off. What do you need to do to sync them? I checked the reeds, choke tube and jets etc. etc. and everything looks fine. I will try the pilot jets you recommended and see what that does. Thanks for your help.

32.5 pilots are way to huge, I would say a 27.5 at the most.

As ak said you need to pinpoint why your plugs are reading differently on each side along with synching your slides.

Slides are synced and the plugs are now reading the same. Im going to order the 27.5 pilots and see what that does. Thanks to everyone for the help. I apreciate it. Banshees are addicting when you get them running right haha

You could probably run the stock 25 pilots and be fine also.

I had the stock pilots in and it still had a hard time getting off the start. It wasn't right in the low end with the stock 25 pilots. Thats why I was confused becasue I put the 32.5 in and it was running similar to when I had the stock 25 pilots in.

to tell weather or not your pilot is lean you need to start the bike and turn the air screw in on both carbs all the way to seated, if the bike revs up continuously as you do this then you are lean. Go to the next pilot size and turn the screws two turns out and try again

Okay I will try seating the air screws and see what the Banshee does. I thought it may be something else also but everything is pretty much brand new on the bike. So this is why I think it has to be the jetting.
