BansheeJay211 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 The top of my cylinder was damaged. The shop that rebuilt my engine decked the cylinders. Now im running to gaskets on top plus the O-rings for the coolhead. Will this cause the bike to over heat or blow water out of the over flow. I NEED SOME REAL HELP PLEASE. Quote
J-Madd Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 As long as it doesn't leak I guess it would not overheat. Be sure to check the squish. How did you damage the top of the cylinders?!!! Never heard of that, nor running a gasket + o=rings. Quote

How did you damage the top of the cylinders?!!! Never heard of that, nor running a gasket + o=rings. I bought the motor complete off of ebay. When I put it in the bike and ran it I noticed the top of the cylinder was damaged. It wasnt to bad but even with new gaskets it wouldnt seal. So I took the engine down and had it completely rebuilt with a stroker crank, pistons, just about everything. Bike runs good but cant keep water in it. coolhead requires o rings Quote
TJScott Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 people run double gaskets all the time on their cylinders to lower the compression ratio. you will be fine, but missing a little compression. Quote
BigRed350x Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 If you bought a stroker crank, here's a suggestion that might help you out. Assemble your top end with whichever thickness gasket you need for your porting, but leave the head off. Bring your pistons to TDC and measure your deck hight (how far your pistons rise above the top of your cylinders) and call up dave at Noss machine or Titan or just about any of the major builders and give them your porting specs and deck height and they can make you a custom set of domes. No need to run two head gaskets. If you bought a stroker crank and didn't get porting to go along with it, you might actually be hurting performance with your port timings being messed up. You could also run two base gaskets instead of two head gaskets, or figure out what you need for a single, double thickness base gasket. I know cascade innovations sells them from .015 to .028 thickness. I'm sure you could get a custom thickness gasket from somewhere, or just run two gaskets to get the thickness you need. Running two base gaskets will also help raise your port timings back up to a little bit closer to normal with your using a stroker crank. Quote
shanYE west Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I was just gonna say I'd have some custom cut domes made rather then run 2 head gaskets.. Thats just another spot for a airleak to happen. Deffinately have the port timings corrected or that 4mil will be pointless. Quote
