Beachcruiser Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 This past weekend I pulled a bone-head move at the off-road park I attended. I had a set of old vinyl KC light cover that I found in my garage and figured they would look good on the shee. So I decided to put them on because the park I was going to was usually muddy and didn't feel like cleaning my lights before dark. Some time through-out the day on saturday I must have switched the lights on and didn't realize it. Well saturday night I took off the covers to make a night run and found out that the lights got so hot with the cover on, it melted the lens/black mesh. Here are a few pics of the covers and the melted lights Since they are pretty much ruined, I'm looking to replace these. Should I go with the stock lights or a different kind? If so, which brand and model number? I am also running the stock stator, so the new lights really can't be a higher wattage. Thanks Quote
MikeNick Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Damn I would've never thought they'd get that hot... Quote
Ineedmoney Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 I would just go back with the stokc lights. You could probably get some real sheap when someone is partingout their bike. I really didnt think that would happen. Quote
Beachcruiser Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 Yeah neither did I. I figured they'd just get alittle warm but by the looks of them I must have had them on for the majority of the day. I haven't seen many lights in the For Sale sections, what would be a good price for the pair? Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 i would get trail techs but you can find used stockers for way less. Quote
grizzly700 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 well if you have the money for trailtechs or something then go for it. i know a guy on here named snopczysnski has some badass LED lights that you can run like 6 of them off the stock stator i think so like 2 on each side and 2 on the handlebars those are wat i wanna get. he has pics so you can see how bright they are and shit. PM him if you are interested. Quote

When one of mine melted it looked like the lens had a tumor and was sticking out really far. Quote
sheefreak Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 I have a set of stock headlights that work great but no plastic grilles you can have for $55 shipped. Quote
F.T.W. Banshee Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 That sucks bro. I cant believe that happened. Time for a set of trail techs. Quote

MILO Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 i did the same thing and like trail rider the lens bubbled out. my stock light cages got broken out by getting roosted long before that though. i just took the lights off and trimmed the mesh off of the cover and put it back together. i keep the covers on 99% of the time anyway and if not the lights are on so it's not like you can really see that the mesh is gone anyway. Beachcruiser Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 I honestly still don't know what to do about them. I've thought about stockers because they just give it the true banshee look, but I would like to have something alittle brighter. Thanks for the offer sheefreak, if you still have them pretty soon I might take them off your hands. Quote
