Whats up everyone. Quick Question. I'm changing the clutch plates for a friend right now and noticed the outside of the basket is all scratched up. Anyone ever noticed this before? Should I be concerned? Any help is appreciated.

I have seen many like that,as long as the fingers that the plates ride on is not grooved restricting plate movement should be good, more times than not if it looks questionable it is

did you replace the basket with a stock one or aftermarket? it sounds like either the cushions are worn or the screws weren't tightened properly (aftermarket basket). what kind of shape were the inner hub and pressure plate in?

everything was good when we installed the new basket (stock). im thinking we didnt tighten the center bolt right. what is the proper way to set the center screw and the locking nut. and also are there torque specs for any of the clutch parts

is the basket grooved so bad that there is no clutch movement? i've seen this done before and it works to a certain extent. take a file and file down the grooves so there is a flat surface on the fingers on the basket. never done it but have seen it work..beats buying a whole new basket right away.

i have done the file trick on some of my machines in the past. Never had any major problems with any of them since. maybe a bandaid but worked for me.

good luck
