peterlocal22 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Whats up guys, I was suppose to go riding today w fasstbanshee in NH but because of work I had to bail out. I did however decide to check the fluids, grease her up etc. First, I started her up and let her run for a couple minutes. Second, I checked the oil and to my amazement it was a milky white color? At first I guessed maybe alittle water got into the case because my last ride was very wet to say the least. So i changed the oil ran it for a minute, and repeated this 2 times. The oil color seemed to be getting back to normal so I stopped and figured I would check it again tomorrow. When I checked it again today it was very milky again? I also noticed a small drip of antifreeze and oil under the bike. Figured it was spillage from changes the oil twice yesterday, but why the antifreeze? I checked the anti freeze and it was low. Im guessing the water that I had originally thought was in the oil is actually antifreez? Not good right? Is it safe to assume the head gasket needs to be replaced? Would a compression check be a safe way to figure out if this is the problem????? I did a search but came up short which Im suprised about because I know I've read about this problem somewhere? Thanks Peter Quote
sheefreak Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 It would either be your water pump seal or the o-ring that goes on the tube that comes through your cases and attaches to the hose that runs to your cyl head. A head gasket problem would not leak anti-freeze into your tranny case area.... Quote
dragbanshee Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Have you had your clutch cover off lately? I always check that oring and litely grease it to help seal it. Quote
peterlocal22 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 well a water pump seal is alot better than a head gasket so ill check that first thanks Quote
sheefreak Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 No problem....If it is leaking on the ground, you can take the water pump cover off and prolly see antifreeze, but you will have to take the side cover off as well to address the issue. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 I just went through the same issue, ended up being the seal on the impeller, i would get another impeller too while your in there if it has and groove wore into it from the seal.... its been 2 weeks and so far oil still looks good. Good luck! Quote
