Ok guys I am sick of having to turn my petcock everytime I shut my quad off, so I am going to adjust the floats. How do I do this? I know how I mean could I use a drill bit for size and what size do I need? The book said around .21 mm but I looked at my feeler guage and that is awefully small. Also My quad ran great yesterday but now I go to start it and and it backfires alot.

Ok appearently my idea of adjusting was wrong I thought you stuck the feeler guage between the metal lip and the thing the needle valve goes on. can someone please help me out I am stumped. I put in my 310 main and 27.5 pilot so maybe that will help with my quad overheating. and there was sand in the carb so maybe that was why it was spittin'?

If there is sand in your carb more than likely its in your motor, the book shows you how to do it ,at least the service manual does, carb upside down from top of float to gasket ledge with a mic.how lean was your bike to be overheating

With the carb sitting upside-down on the bench with the float bowl off, measure the distance from the carb body gasket surface (WITHOUT the gasket in place) to the highest point on the black plastic floats (without putting any pressure on the floats). This measurement should be between 20mm and 22mm. If adjustment is necessary, gently bend the metal float bracket on each float to reach the right height. That's 20 to 21 mm not 0.21 mm.

20mm is about 3/4 inch

Thanks for the help guys I made a float tool out of a credit card. I wasnt running too lean I was at a stock pilot and a 300 main. I put i a 27.5 pilot and a 310 main we'll see if that helps.
