ryansedy Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Going to 4mm whats better short, or the long rods? is there a difference in power? Quote
bansee fever Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 (edited) I would say the long rod! thats what most of the setups on the market use! as for the more power i cant say for sure but there must be a reason they use that setup!! maybe one of the pros will chime in! 278 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Go with a long rod... no power difference but the long rod is more reliable. It create less side load on the piston and therefor less stress on the cylinder wall, piston, and rod... and less wear. Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 x2 long rod. the geometry is better than the short so longer life out of the engine. Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 a short rod will rev out a little quicker but the long rod is worth the reliability imo Quote
Darthwall Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 they are both about the same one uses one piston the other uses the other piston If you are going to do it use the long rod one its alot better for in the long run Quote
rubberneck Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Doesn't everybody want a longer rod Quote
donkeypuncher Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Doesn't everybody want a longer rod some peoples rods are long enough already. Quote
Dick Wheels Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 wouldn't you get a little more torque with the longer rod? Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 wouldn't you get a little more torque with the longer rod? no. the longer rod only changes the rod angle, putting less side load of the piston against the sleeve. Quote
