mailman Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 OK, this is a long shot but is it possible for the stock banshee cdi to malfunction by retarding the timing. My new dyno runs are 10 to 15% lower but the curves look the same as before. I have heard of the banshee cdi boxes just failing but then the bike doesn't run. Any one have this happen to them? Thanks, Mailman ps. We did piston modifications and case porting and lost a ton of hp. I put some new pistons in it and we will dyno again on Monday to see if that caused the problem. Nate McCoy thinks we screwed up the pistons so we are trying that first. Quote
Snopczynski Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Technically if the curve retarded itself, you would see a fall in low end power and a gain up top. If your ambient readings are not identical to last time when doing dyno runs, the bike could make less power. Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 stock cdi's usualy work or they dont. i'd tell you to swap a cdi from another bike into yours if your questioning it but from the sounds of it you've already put new pistons in so it's kind of a moot point now... Quote
mailman Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 Thanks for the replys, guys. I am going to round up another cdi (and coil) just in case. Mailman Quote
