pecanfmr Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 I have some vibration issues when I get a little into the powerband in 6th gear. It has always been this way but the place I started riding at allows me to get up to those speeds so its alot more noticable. Hubs and axle are both tight with no play whatsoever and there is no tire sealant and no plugs in the tires. I didnt know if a bent wheel could cause this but everything looks straight when i put it on a jack and spin it. I dont have any experience with bent axles other than those that are really bent and you tell at much lower speeds. I needed some outside input before I purchase an axle and replace the bearings while Im in there. What do you guys think? Thanks! -RM Quote
twizted269 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 probably an unbalanced tire. they tend to get flat spots also when sitting for long periods of time. if it spins straight then it should be fine. you can jack it up and use a dial indicator if you want to be sure. Quote
grizzly700 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 are u riding on the road when u feel this vibration? i think they all shake a little at high speeds cause of unbalnced tires. Quote
TwistedSheeRida Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 when i run mine down the road at high speeds it does the same thing i would say its just unbalanced tires Quote
pecanfmr Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 when i run mine down the road at high speeds it does the same thing i would say its just unbalanced tires Yes it happens down dirt or paved roads and when I watched someone else on it I could see it shaking the rear of the bike. It does feel like something is out of balance because it comes on smooth and then gets pretty violent, theres no way Ill ride pinned in 6th on the pavement because I wouldnt be able to stay on the road. I just dont want the vibration to break anything going that fast. Quote
