Andy P in WA Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Quick question for those who may know. I am looking at putting t-5's on 2 banshees also will be removing air box and going to K&N pods. I allready have one bike set up this way. My question is about the jet kit that comes with T-5 pipes. I know they call it the "The Toomey Perfect Jet" kit but I believe it is a Dynojet kit. The only part of the kit I really will "need" is the needles. The 270 and 280 mains are too small for this application where I live, obviously won't need the airbox vents or the uni filter they send with. Is it completely necessary to use their needles and buy the whole kit just to get those couple pieces or is it possible to run the stock needles with different mains, clip position, etc... I guess it really doesn't require that much money to do so. I just hate paying them for something I don't even need!!! I have called and asked Dynojet about purchasing needles only but they will not do that, of course they wouldn't be able to charge me for all the needless crap and colect a little more. Thanks in advance to all who keep the HQ rollin' Quote
donkeypuncher Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 the stock needles will work fine. thats what i use with the mods u listed and then some. whats ur elevation? Quote
Andy P in WA Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Only about 300 ft. I think on my other bike I am running either 300, 310, or 320. i don't remember for sure. I actually just found out that power brokerz will sell the toomey banshee needles seperately for $25 ea. Still a bit steep but if it is better..... Quote

Still a bit steep but if it is better..... the toomey needle isnt really needed, run the stock needle and one of the main jets you listed (start at 320 and work your way down) and start with your needle on the 3rd (middle) clip. RollinRhino Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 This might just have been mine, but when I put on the Pro Circuits and removed the lid, the stock needles on the middle setting with 260s smoked bad and you couldn't even choke it or it would flood. I had to get the needles and I followed the instructions to the letter and the problem was fixed. Mine needed fatter needles and less taper. The stock needles have a sharp taper to them and the only way I could get mine to idle was put the needle on the first setting and then it leaned way out at half throttle. I live 800 ft above sea level. My jet settings are now 270 with the lid on needle at middle setting on the Dyno Jet needles and 25 pilots turned to 2 and a half turns out. With the lid off I run 300s with the needle at the middle setting and 27.5 pilots and turned the air screw 1 and a half turns out. If you call the tech line at Pro Circuit, Boyesen, Yamaha, and my numerous other sources they all say the Stock needles should work. They never did. Quote
