ok, I recently picked up a banshee knowing that the top half of the case was cracked, the chain slipped the back sprocket, bunched up and took a chunk out of both upper and lower cases i later found out. I talked to a few places that said thet the banshee cases are one solid piece then after the crank was bored out the case was split upper and lower, and the only way tp get a matching set was to get 2 with matching serial.

I already got a top half in the garage

I found a bottom half for 100 bucks?

Then I found a upper and lower for 300 bucks

could i just buy the 100 dollar lower and have it machined to fit?

should i just buy the set and know for sure?

experiences and opinions please

thanks in advance

I think that your best bet is to get the matching set. I don't think that it matters if you buy them seperately but when buying machined parts, its always a good idea to buy the two as a matching set instead of them seperately. That way they are more likely to mate up perfectly.

Dude...

I smoked my engine and I needed new cases. I got seprate cases from two different people and I didnt have any problems, and she runs full tilt with no problems. It's cheaper to buy them seprate. Some one is blowing smoke up your ass, and if you wanted to do that you would be at home with a pack of smokes and a short length hose.:lol:

Crank it up!!!!

Cases are machined together at the factory. Although its considered unacceptable to not have matched halves, Ive seen several instances where this has worked just fine. Still falls in to the unorthodox theology though, and is considered a mistake by most...Jim

Yeah. mine too. I bought my $hee with the rod sticking out of the front upper case. Its a 99, and I only paid $300. I just bought an upper case and matched it to my factory lower. Not a single problem and no leaks. (at least until I opened mu mouth a wrote this)
