Maybe moreso to the newbs on the site or first timers doing your own maint like myself.

Was out riding last weekend and noticed chain was jumping teeth, i checked it, it was tight.... Started again i checked it chain was loose...Also had some screeching like old brakes coming from rear... so i grabbed both wheels and had alot of slack in carrier. Took it straight back to trailer about a 1/2 mile in first gear all the way, screeching like hell.....got new bearings and seals in today and tore it apart, bearing were in 2,000 pieces. guys do not slack on your bearings, if u have any play in your axle change em.... Just in that short of a time the axle started mushrooming the end of carrier and ball bearings had came out and wedged between axle and spacer and started gouging spacer..... CHANGE EM ! PLEASE!

I had the same thing happen and i am going through the bearing change out now. did your axle stick at all after you got the axle nuts off and any ideas on how to maybe break it loose.

Another good idea for a stock carrier is what i did on mine.

Drill and tap a hole and put in a grease zerk so you can keep them well lubed every other ride.

You also have to take one seal off one side of both bearings them selves and put the side you took the seal off towards the the inside of the carrier to let the grease in. (not the main black seals) Works really well like this.

I also drilled and tapped every pivot point on my suspension front to back that didn't have a zerk to begin with, it lets the bearings/bushing last alot longer

But obviously only put a zerk in when that part is apart so you canclean out the small pieces of metal out.

That is actually a really good idea but i have get the axle out first and i will probably put a zirk in while its apart if i ever get it there.

Do it, its really easy to do and will make shit last longer and lubed up better.

If your axle is being a lil bitch and not wanting to come out, lube the shit out of it where it goes into the carrier on both sides with some liquid wrench or something along those lines and let it sit for a while or over night.

Wake up, call a buddy over and get him to hold the rear bumper as you get a 2x4 piece of wood and smash him in the leg with it cause your pissed off the axle wont come out...J/K  ....get him to hold the 2x4 up against the axle on the left side(chain side) and grab a Big fucking sledge and beat that shit till it pops loose....works every time.

Fuckin EH

I did the same thing with mine, Savage. I put a zerk on every moving part on my bike, including the friggin brake pedal shaft. I cut small grooves in the shaft to make the grease cover the whole thing.
