Trixyboi14 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Im going for a purple and balck colour scheme on my shee and currently re-building it as we speak. I have all the frame, shocks n engine sorted but i'm left with blue plastics and wondering without buying new plastics (because there hard 2 get hold of here in the UK) what the best way of painting it black? kubitza123 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Best way is go to a place that sell automotive paint. The make special paint for plastic that holds up very very well. Uses a special promoter that makes the paint stick. I know some people that have this done and even airbrushed and have spilled racing gas etc on it and doesn't stain it ,make it peel etc. Works very well Quote
banshee_terror_ Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 the way i always did it was sanding it down with like 160 then moving to 500 or so then u throw down a base color then throw the black on with a lacker or something over the top of the black Quote
2001Stroker Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 You can also buy an additive for the automotive paints that kind of rubberize it. Makes it flexable. Quote

Thanks for your advice, followed up on what you said and found a product called DuPont which is used to spray car bumpers. I might see if I can do it myself or mite go to an body work shop. Quote
