motodrumer58 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I race ice, and im getting beat off the line then I pick em off one by one. I will tell you my set up and what is happening. My 250r hooks up great out of the hole and im running the same tires and kold kutters as the shee. When the light turns grean I launch in 2nd gear and all I do is spin (1st is worse). I have stock swing arm loweing kit in front and back and a swaybar I have suspension tightend all the way up. I do have room to go lower on the back. Once im up to speed im hooked up great. But off the line I just spin and spin. Has anyone had this problem or any suggestions or tricks?...............thanks Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I recommend studs.... Quote
motodrumer58 Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 im running legal ama studs that are rarz sharp Quote
Canadarider Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 We take a rolling strat I'm 3 geared and when I get in the throttle I still spin.. I run holeshots with 500 kold kutters in each rear. After I get going I don't spin. The only thing I can think of is stud it up a little more and go down a theeth in the rear this help me a little . try that . Quote
banshee_terror_ Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 yah go down a size on the rear sprocket also when your at the line pick up the shee by the grab bar and slame it in to the ice. that will get the studs to stick in better and should give you a little more emmf Quote
Canadarider Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I run the R6 rear shock . It helps out alot its pretty stiff but I can move it down a half inch,, and it hooks up better then being right stiff. lets see some pics of your shee and mod list . might help us out more to get u hooking Quote
tt_bansheerida Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 is ur swingarms stock if so shorten it up (night and day diffrence) u wont be able to keep the front tires down off the line Quote
4stroker Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 raise the front back up and dont dump the clutch, ride it out Quote
motodrumer58 Posted February 4, 2009 Author Report Posted February 4, 2009 Thanks for everones help. I will use the tricks. I am running 15 front 41 rear gearing. It is lowered in the front and i have 2 nothces on the lowering kit in the back where i can go lower. The questions I have are. Does the r6 rear shock bolt right on or do you have to fab it. Also with the swing arm any one have a shortend one for sale or any one ever cut a stock one. The natilnoals are in 2 weeks so i have time!!! Quote
Canadarider Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 The R-6 shock bolts right up u can get a brand new -2 swinger on ebay for 200$ from the swing arm shop . You might want to drop to a 15/40 that should slow down the wheel spin out of the hole. Going down a thooth in the rear is going to drop your down end a little and help you a more on the top end. I have found out playing with the rear sprocket helps me out alot more then the front to get a hole shot . Get the rear low as u can I have found it I can keep my front end 1.5'' to 3'' higher then the rear when seating on the quad it help me get more traction . I run a stock swing and I can get mine to hook up good on the ice. I can walk around a 600 CBR in a warrior frame ( i know gay but cool lol ) and a built trx540 ( so the guy said lock up and all fast quad but the shees got more ). I run a 3/8 mile track with banking and a 14/40 gearing .with 20'' holeshots with 500 kold kuterz in each rear. and I go 240lbs ( I know I'm fat). if you need more help pm me . I live to help out other BHQer's Quote
tt_bansheerida Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 i cut my swing arm by 2.5 inches and runs great hooks better in corners and on the line Quote
Canadarider Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I didn't like my -3 or my -2.5 . Im going to buy a -2 and try it but right now I like my stock swinger . Quote
motodrumer58 Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 I have my 40t ready to go. I also bought a stock swing arm to hack up today. Do you have to change the shock linkage when you shorten the swing arm? Has any one ever cut a stock swingger? Im not sure where to cut . I am going to have to take it to a local welder{ he is good} to have it ready by next SAT natlionals I would like to test once. I am thinking -2 on the swingger. I have until next weekend. ( the races this sun were canceleed due to rain). Riding the ice is addictive....Michigan weather sucks Quote
