So this has happened to me before, when the engine got overheated, but I have rebuilt it and installed a vapor computer. The temp read 178 and I shut it down to load it up when it puked!! I think I might have a very small leak into my left cylender cause there is some moisture coming out of the pipe on that side. could that be it or anyone else have other ideas? I have moded the tubes and removed the "Y" connector so the hoses just hang down.. any help apreciated...

Gear oil is coming out of the pressure relief tube? (clutch cover, under the water pump cover) It could be overfilled, yes. But if you had a leak it would most likely be coming though the right cylinder (crank seal, case seal leak, etc) and be smoking more so than the left cylinder. The left cylinder would most likely be burning coolant if your seeing more moisture, are you seeing any more smoke in the left as well?

Couple times I smoked a clutch before I got a lockup the clutches would slip bad and heat the tranny fluid and make it spew out. Does it feel like it is not quite there? Like it revs, but not quite pulling like it should? Bet that's your problem. If it is your clutch and they have plenty of meat to them, they will be glazed and worthless...

hmm... could be.. I have not replaced the clutch in ... ok dont laugh.. 7 years..

havent been doing alot of riding though. Mostly rebuilding after it blew up. But it is the same clutch that I had before all of my motor work in my sig..

If the clutch is slipping then you'd be heating the oil up for sure, but you'd notice if it was slipping.

well I dont know if I would.. I have mudshark tires on the rear.. LOTS of slippage.. it got hot after a 5 minute fast ride down a trail...

It happened before though, but that time I got coolant into the case.. could that destroy the clutch?

yeah... I guess I was too busy adding power and not taking care of the mechanics.. Ill try a clutch.. any thoughts on a good one??

right now it is all stock (clutch basket) except for 3 tusk springs..????

Can't beat Yamaha FZR600/1000 fibers and you can find them for like $7 a piece, your springs should be fine. Unless your steels are blued, they should be fine. If you don't want to mess w/that, Jeff at FAST sells a nice kit put together for you...

Are those just the clutch rings themselves? (with the material)

I can assemble the basket myself..

The fibers yes, the pressure rings that hes reffering to are the metal (spacers if you will) in between the fibers, if they get too worn you need to either replace them or roughen them up.
