i have a chance to trade for some fmf fattys and was wondering how they are compared to the t6s? which is a better pipe for climbing sand hills and better pull in the mid area?

il prob get porting done next winter or this summer whenever the top end needs replaced lol. so it would be worth it then? the down pipes arent shinny anymore but i dont care bout that

If you think you want to try something different I'd say do it. The t-6s if ported correctly will work fine my uncle runs a ported 4 mil with t-6's and that think is a friken rocket.

Yes, it would be a lot better to wait to port it, when you tear it down for a new top end. It would be best if the person doing the porting knew what pipes you were planning on running, once it was back together. I ran FMFs for years, and never had a problem with them. A lot of people don't give the FMFs their due, because they aren't the best looking pipes, and some say they like the sound of the Toomey's better, but I out ran a bunch of bikes with Toomeys on them, so it's all a matter of personal preferance, and $$$.

Toomey > FMF IMO. If anything, go to T5s. Definately port and rebuild at the same time. If you want to do a 4 mil, do 4 mil porting w/ the rebuild.

Are you going to port the cylinders? If you do, the FMFs will work better. The T6s are designed for stock cylinders, and don't respond as well to porting as other pipes do.

this last summer I saw a guy running stock stroke cubs with stock carbs and t-6 pipes, that bike ran pretty damn hard, he beat my friend who is running redline drag ported stock juggs, 33 pwks, cool head with 18 cc domes about 170lbs compression, advanced timing, my friend was beaten every time they lined up ( about 20 times). seems like the t-6 pipes responded well enough.
