dirtdragguy Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Just like the title says I'm building a stock class drag bike for this year. I bought a guy out a few mouths back that had quit racing. Was going threw all the stuff & I have a set of cases a 4mill 115 rod crank a set off 34 pk pro design head a stock tranny a bunch of domes & a 2mill spacer plate & a set of good looking drag ported stock cylinders but the right on has threw a rod & broke the ear off of the sleeve. The cylinders are at the machine shop being honed & the other is being re sleeved oh yeah their at 66mm right now. The help I needs is what do I need to get or is this a good set up I have not messed with stock cylinders much. I just sell them & buy cubs. LOL but thanks for all your help in advance! Quote
625banshee Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 I would try the stock cylinders first, i would get a set of 36mm carbs and a 1-5 0verride tranny and a lockout clutch, if u decide to go to cubs, give Kevin a call at HJR Racing and he can hook u up, hes the man to deal with. Quote
lowbuckracing Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 As long as the port durations are correct for the 4 mill crank it should run great...Good luck. Quote
dirtdragguy Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 Thanks for all the replies! What does the port duration need to be for a 4 mill. I have not ever messed with a 4 mill. I have put plenty of engines together but I have not "built" any from scratch so the port timing I can check but then past that it will be going to some body. This is a stock class bike that is all it is. The rules are simple 4mill stroke max, stock cylinders ,stock cases ,stock frame on gas with no power adders. Cut trannies are o.k. & out of frame pipes are o.k. & aftermarket heads are o.k. It's a budget type class but every time I have ever been around budget limited class racing it turns into throwing bunches of money at stuff for all the high dollar "stealth" junk on engines. I will be happy if I can get my spare parts to run well & do it my self & win that would be very satisfying Quote
