Hey Everyone,

I'm new to HQ, I've learned a lot from this site but i still have a ton more to learn so maybe you guys can help.

So i bought my 2004 Banshee about 3 months ago and it has ran perfect the whole time, starts up first kick, no hesitation, no problems, nothing. And all of a sudden after riding it for about an hour this past Thursday 1/1/09 i started it up, idled fine, i took off and it didn't have the power and was backfiring from the left side. I turned it off and started it back up, it still did it so i just kept it off and loaded up. When i got home i started it and during idle its fine, but the left side does not blow near as much as the right and it will backfire it i give it throttle. What could this be? Anything at all would help me very much. I've been reading here and there and there seems to be a lot it can be, so first ill check my plugs. o ya the TORS on the left carb, it is kinda loose, it can move left to right about an inch by hand if i try and the right one is snug. I don't think this effected anything but two days before this a friend was riding for the first time and he was being stupid and doing donuts and he flipped it landing upside down, i ran over and put it back on its wheels, you can only imagine how upset i was, but it ran fine after that.

Here are the mods if it helps

2004 Banshee

Port and polished heads

T6 full exhaust

K&N air filters

V force reeds

--the guy i bought it from said he always ran straight 110 octane, i did a compression test and im at 135 each side so im running about 60/40 91 pump and VP C12 just to keep it similar to what he said, and he said he mixed 52:1 with Klotz Benol so i kept it that way.

If you guys need any more info just let me know on here or email me at [email protected]

I really appreciate any help.

Thank You,

Jason Costa

welcome jason.

first step is almost always check your plugs, and i would replace them. make sure it's getting good spark on both cylinders/ swap wires to see if the problem changes sides. when you say the tors moves, is that the whole carb, or just the top moving side to side? it shouldn't do that.

thanks for the responses

AKheathen, just the TORS move, the carb itself stays still but where the TORS meets the carb on the cap it is loose. i have not had a chance to check anything cuz i work til dark and i dont have the best place to work on it just a small area outside my appartment. but i have tuesday off so im going to check it that day. do you recomend the BR8 or BR9 spark plugs?

Thanks

BR8ES for gas BR9ES for alcohol

If the TOR is loose that could be part of your problem. If it is that loose then you could be sucking air there and that will cause you problems.

ALRIGHT!!

So today i checked my spark plugs. They were a little dirty and wet but the same on both plugs. So i went and bought new ones BR8ES same as i was running. So i got home and put them in and started it up and it ran great! so hopefully it stays running good, i think i could have fouled a plug because i started funning leaded rather than unleaded..maybe but im just happy that its running great again THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!

Well the guy i bought it from said he ran stright 110 unleaded, and a lot fo people ahve said that its ok to run leaded it is just more of a lubricant because of the lead, so i ahve been running 50/50 mix VP C12 and 91 pump. Is that bad?
