jimbob Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 (edited) my question is can i run without an equalizer tube? i have a pro design billet intakes on my she and a pro design boost bottle. the boost bottle has no tubes protruding from it and simply relies on 2 rubber push fit rings to seal it which as we all know is shit. can i just blank the equalizers off or would that be a bad thing? dajogejr Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Plug both holes with the proper sized bolt and a hoseclamp. Make sure the bolt is not extruding into the intake path... Quote
BansheeRider87 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 it will mess with your air intake and wont be a controled flow of air Quote
AKheathen Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 the boost bottle is a combination of a resonator and crossover tube, and btw, it should never have fuel in it. on larger bores, like sno-go's, it is a great improvement in rideability, but the x-over tube sends part of the return pulse to the other intake while on it's intake pulse. the point of a resonator bottle is to absorb the return pulse, dampening the double richening effect, and is supposed to be proprietary to a single cylinder. i'm sure someone will disagree with me, but imho, neither steups would make a difference in 1/2 to wot, just in technical ridding Quote
dajogejr Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Go for a ride with the boost bottle. Remove it and plug/seal both holes, go for the same ride. If you notice any difference whatsoever....I want whatever pills or booze you're taking. AK...I understand what it's supposed to do. The theory, etc. This is one of those cases where theory looks great on paper or in discussion, but in real world..it doesn't amount to a hill of beans. And I'm NOT just talking about drag bikes. I'm talking trail bikes, duners, etc. Quote

I'm talking trail bikes, duners, etc. i have run them on sleds, and they do make a difference on a trail sled clutched @3000, and the cross-over made more of a difference on my 700 clutched at 6000. the only reaason it's even called a boost bottle, is because of the shared chamber working as a x-over on an engine that did not come with any sort of x-over from the factory. it does decrease the venturri effect over the sealed intake, slightly changing the fuel in part- throttle. so it's not just a "bolt-on" i remember a few months back, mj quoted experiencin this when he said that his throttle was crisper without it. i'm pretty sure that only about 5% of ridders on here would actually benifit from it, but usually the mod is to get a smaller drive sprocket for more controll in highly technical situations. i was just explaing how they work, and if i had some pillz right now, i would send you some to loosen up a bit. dajogejr Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 I have one in the top shelf of my tool box, where it's been for a few years now... It's polished and pretty...I have an open spot on the wall for it, a roost boost and AMP link, should I ever find them at a garage sale cheap. Next to a broken piston, which...in my opinion, would offer more good than any of those listed above. I understand it works on your snowmobile, but these are different animals. Quote

I understand it works on your snowmobile, but these are different animals. i do understand that they are different in ways other than size, ie pipes, power valving, piston design, etcetera... but in every stage of my build, i will be testing it's effects in rideability controll, as well as for power loss, and running a tube, and plugs. right now it's too cold and i don't want to mess with the rubber intakes any more than i have to. i already had to replace one before my last ride because the cold and hard ridding tore it pretty good Quote
dajogejr Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 I have a nice shiny polished bottle I'd be happy to send your way for cost of shipping in your quest... Quote
jimbob Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 so its one of them "make ya own mind up" things then? so if i run with out it its not gonna do any damage? Quote
