GNR101 Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 hey help please any1 my jetting is 27.5 and 270 mains. needle clip 1 above the middle. (plug is tanned....) i ride sea lvl 27-32 degree days...(australia) mods are VF3 28mm carbs makuni fmf sst + turbine cores 20cc domes and coolhead mild trail/dune port k&n inbox filtser (no lid) its very boggy down low.. sounds kinda like when u kill the ignition and go full throttle. (but not that bad it still revs) once it hits band it revs and runs great but if u drop outa band it bogs right off. carbs and jets veins are all clean and clear Quote
RUDEDAWG Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) I am no jetting expert, but, I would try raising the needle one or two notches, which means putting the clip down lower on the needles and adjust your air screws in a little, just my .02. GNR101 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Report Posted December 31, 2008 28mm mikuni round slides (vm)? or 28mm mikuni flatslides ? round slides... (and there in the right way) ive tryed what the otheres said... about leaning off the clip... its better but still boggy. Quote

If you raise your needle and turn your air screws in a tad you will be actually riching her up a bit. also 270 mains seem very lean to me, I run 270 mains @ 4800' and it runs like a champ. If I run bigger it runs like poo. Edited December 31, 2008 by RUDEDAWG Quote
Snopczynski Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 30 pilot and 380 mains. What needles are in it? Quote
GNR101 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Report Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) 30 pilot and 380 mains. What needles are in it? 380 mains??? if i leAN the needle is its better.. stock rd needles Edited December 31, 2008 by GNR101 Quote
Snopczynski Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 380 mains??? if i leAN the needle is its better.. stock rd needles RD350 needles? What size is that? Your running 270 mains! You would usually run 270 mains in a stock motor with a stock carb banshee. Why do you think it needs 270 mains with everything you have done. You have 28mm mikuni carbs on a ported motor with compression, mid-top pipe and a mid-top reed cage setup. Your also riding in a dense air climate. If its too rich you can go leaner. If its too lean, you can always rebuild the motor after it blows up. Quote

But, you need to get the mains dialed first, then worry about fine tuning the needle settings. The needle jets in that carb can help set ranges on your mid jetting too. Quote
