Can anyone out there help me, I am confused. I am new into banshees.

I have a 97' Banshee with the only mod being T3 pipes with T5 stingers. I still have the stock airbox with stock filter, I plan on getting the K&N filter down the road when I get some $$

The issue I am having is that when I accidently installed the slides into my stock carbs the wrong way (The tapperd end towards the engine so that you cant see the dot thru the little glass window) my banshee will generally start on the first or second kick. But when I try to install the slides the correct way as the manual indicates (Tappered end towards the air filter and the dot being visible thru the glass window) my banshee will not start at all. Can anybody make any sence of this. I have not changed my jets yet, I asume they are stock jets.

The quad used to run with stock pipes before when my uncle owned it, but was left out side covered with a tarp for about 5 years. It used to be his wifes quad until the clutch basket springs all that shattered and locked up on him. He told me that if I could get it up and running again that he would let me have it since he has his own already.

is it getting spark at all after you put them in the right way? it could be your tors. try removing it and see if ur getting spark. did you mess with the idle screws or anything?

Have you taken the carbs completely apart and cleaned them good. I mean speaker wire, remove all jets...let the carbs sit in solvent good?

Raise the idle if it won't start with the carbs in the correct way...try opening the throttle 1/4 way.

Are the carbs in sync? In other words...remove the air box...do they open and close at the same time.

Also...how warm is it by you. It was single digits here yesterday...I can tell you that a properly jetted bike for the summer would have had a helluva time starting around here yesterday....

It is very cold out here typicaly in the teens, 13 to 19 degrees out this time of the year, I did reset all the idle screws and and the air screw to the factory settings that the manual says. Maybe I shouldnt of done that, The carbs were cleaned pretty good, not the speaker wire thing but I did remove all the gunk that had accumulated over the years of just sitting their.

as far as the spark goes, I know that I am getting a spark because I have one of those deals that you plug in between your spark plug and the plug wire which illuminates a little bulb to indicate that you have a spark. Like I said as soon as a flip the slide the wrong way it will start on the first or second kick but when I try to feather the throttle to warm it up it bogs down on me and dies. I kicked it over again and will start pretty fast. I then install the slides the correct way and will start for a couple of seconds, I assume only long enough the burn the fuel in the carbs and will then die and wont start for anything.

I have the pilot air screw on the side of the carbs out 2 turns like the manual says, and the idle screws out 2 turns as well but I cant keep it running long enough the warm the engine up to adjust the idle screws on the TORS to the correct settings. How many turns is generaly enough for the idle screws on the TORS and the pilot air screws?
