HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 i havent even had it running for a month and its starting to mess up. it usually starts on 1 kick which i would only imagine is good. it will idle fine but its boggy as hell cold and when i take off. also it seems to be backfiring or popping on the right cylinder when i give it gas regardless of how fast im going.also the right cylinder seems like it is not smoking at all to where the left is perfect. the only thing i have on it is a k&n.at sea level, stock jets, reeds, pipes has the shitty tors and boost bottle if that helps at all. got a trip next weekend and i cant get parts that quick so what do i have to do to get it right? Quote
F.T.W. Banshee Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 You have to change the jets for the pipes. Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 do you still have an airbox with a single k&n or k&n pods? either way i think you would need to rejet. Quote
HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 its stock with a single k&n. besides that it is 100% stock Quote
brugal Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 You have to adjust the air screw and go up on the mains to run that K&N filter. Weather changes also effect jetting, things are getting a bit cooler in the Fla. Quote
HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 so you think i should turn the fuel/air mixure screw in? i have it out 2 turns now. Quote
shogs Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Check to make sure your boost bottle didn't tear your intake boots. Thats what happened to me and I think it messed with my pistons a little. (burned em a little) Quote
HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 checked for air leakes yeaterday and theres none. the boots are fine. i just put 2 new plugs in it and it was a bitch to start. i put in b8es plugs. when it was running it was spitting out of the exhaust really bad. AKheathen Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 check your plug caps, coil, and moisture in your stator area. pickup gap too Quote
HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 how do you check the caps? everything else ill check. Quote
HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 theres no moisture in the stator. it runs a bit better with the new plugs in but it still pops back a little. Quote
2slow350 Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 First, I would get rid of the boost bottle bc there junk, then if its not electrical id check the reeds and see if they are busted or cracked... Quote
Wildcardracing Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Sounds to me as though your carbs are out of sync, make sure both slides are the same height at idle and that the raise at exactly the same time when you push the throttle. Without a sync tool that's the best way to get them close. Quote
HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 theyre synced. i got a huge trip this weekend and i have no possible way to get the removal kit and the crossover tube. after this weekend then its a different story. i gapped the pickup coil and its at .15 and the flywheel is tight. im not really worried because its hitting on both cylinders. so if its running on both then its getting fuel and oil so im not worried about blowing it up.
