I've run the hi-temp gas and oil resistant silicone (red stuff) for going on 7 years now and its always worked perfect for me. Never had any sealant issues or case leaks. None. Just put it on and let it dry overnight before you put any fluids in.

Yeah. Just make sure its the gas and oil resistant hi-temp stuff.

 

cool thats exactly what I have been using for all my SBC race motors just wasnt sure about the the shee's thanks alot

ThreeBond 1211, Jeff @ F.A.S.T. recommended it and it works great. It's very manageable and I haven't had any problems. Here is another thread on the same question:
