Having a couple of runs with these bikes on sand.

I have already raced the LTR450 and was beaten by about 15 -20m over long distance (all the beating was done in the first 50m). The ltr had pipes, computer and smaller pipes. I raced on standard banshee tyres in loose sand - LTR had wide good quality aftermarket tyres (not paddles).

I just got paddles on the banshee and airfilter, and now a mate got a yzf450. We are all racing on the sand this weekend. How do you think it will end up?

Banshee - filter + Paddles

LTR450 - exhaust, computer, small sprocket

YFZ 450 - stock.

Also, should I be starting in second gear on the banshee in sand with paddles? I found that i was starting in first before and it would just spin and go no where until i hit second...

Lastly, i put my airfilter in today but i kept the box lid on their because Im not sure how to rejet..? is it easy? anyone know where i could find a decent set of instructions?

All new to ATV's.

Don't know anything about riding on sand buddy but I'd start off in 2nd gear, but in a race I'd say LTR450 then you then the Yfz450.....For jetting instructions research some in the jetting forum and you should be able to find what your looking for..The more you read the more you will know.. Hope that helps ya some..

Welcome!

The tires were your biggest down fall, start out in 2nd, but you better make sure you do some dry runs to make sure your not going to bog it out the hole. As for the jetting, pretty simple if you think you can take the carbs off enough to get the bowls off and get the mains out. That would be the one right in the center with like a plastic cup deal around it. You could replace with 240-260 if your going to run with no lid, if not just leave it. The other jets will be fine, but unless you have a proflo adaptor or something simular the filter will not stay in without a lid. Now when you get pipes thats whats going to wake it up and if you keep the lid on 280 main will do, and lid off 290-310. Hope this helps, you may be able to find a clymers manual download.

Just to let you know, the 450s are pretty sick, so dont feel bad if you get beat with your mods. Good luck!

the LTR450 is quick. I have ridden it. It was beaten by another banshee with reeds, exhaust and filter (non paddle tyres).

I want to really wake this thing up with pipes, reeds and maybe a port and polish?

Anyways thanks.

I raced the YZF 450 today...

Munched him off the line in 1st and 2nd. But ended up getting beaten by about 3 bike lengths.

I have stage 4 trinitys coming on Monday and should get the reeds soon after that. I think I should be able to beat him by 3 bike lengths after that...
