i have an Elka sport and competition rear shock and im wanting to know how to set it up right for me. i want it to be setup the best it can for me. i weight about 185, i am not even sure what else matters when it comes to suspension. but i know if they are(like most things) tuned in right you can get the most out of them so im just wanting to know where im at with mine and where i should be at with it. thanks for any help

it rides really smooth the way it is now but when the bike is just sitting there i can lift the rear end up a good bit. and it is slack in the shock when i lift up on the bike it moves a good way before it hits. just seems like that is alot of shock i could be using.

I would call elka to see what they recommend for setting your sag. Then adjust your compression setting to 2 clicks out from the softest setting ride it and see if you bottom off jumps or anything. Youshould bottom lightly every great once in awhile. If you don`t then your not using all of your suspension. Rebound set that in the middle ride it through whoops and see what it does. if it bounces like a pogo stick or bucks add more rebound if it packs take some rebound out then try it again. only do one adjustment at a time.

Is that elkas dual rate self sagging shock if so they do have a lot of sag in them to help it corner better. but I would call them. I think sag is usualy like 10% of travel
