Well, I opened up the motor and this is what I found. I have a hole in the piston lol. The head has chunks of metal fused with it also. I took the cylinders off and I can see some shavings of the piston down in the crankshaft area. I see that I will need a new top end, but can i just clean out the bottom end or will I need to replace too. Lemme know what you guys think, thanks in advance.

You have something tuned wrong to be putting holes in pistons. Might post up your entire setup from filters, carbs, jetting, pipes, compression, fuel, etc. Something is causing your pre-ignition condition. We usually see this from a lean condition that causes excessive heat and eventually hot spots.

Yeah, thats what I was hoping. is there any special tools or anything that I would need to open it up? I think I will do that tonight and I will post the pic. Yeah, I can see pieces of piston lol down where the crank is. What will I look for when I get to that point to see any damage? Ill post after work and its all open. Hopefully around eight o clock pacific time.

Only special tool you really need is an impact gun and a flywheel puller. Impact to take the clutch basket off and the flywheel puller is about $15 and some motorcycle shops may have it. Look on www.farmandsandtoys.com for a picture and you can order from them too if you want to wait for it.

DO NOT USE A JAW PULLER to get your flywheel off you will destroy the flywheel.

Once you get inside basically just look for wear and obvious damage, there's not much in the case of a banshee just some gears and a crank...

do you have a set of feeler guages and measuring caliper and also make sure you print out the repair manual if you don't already have one, it's linked on this site, I think in the repairs forum or the general (don't remember).

As long as your piston rod is not damaged you'll want to check the "side-to-side" specs in the manual for the rod and make sure it's within spec.

Alright, I got the side covers off now, but I can go anymore because I wont have the puller till wednesday, so until then, Oh yeah, does the case actually split or just certain peices come off. Thanks

If you hit it with a hammer hard enough, it will split....

Get the cylinders off and discover the extent of your damage.

Damn Brandon, careful some people take things litterally... LOL  Just kidding!

Yeah like Brandon said, get the top off first and see, as far as getting the motor split yeah there are quite a few items you need to take off first and then get the case bolts out. Keep everything in ziplock bags and mark them with a sharpie. Once you have everything off and the case ready to split, carefully hit the two sides where the motor mounts are with a rubber mallet to break them apart. Don't pry with a flathead screwdriver you'll screw up the mating surfaces.

LOL I wouldnt do that. I was told the same thing when I was replacing my lightened flywheel. Okay, well I can see down the cylinders and I do see chunks of my piston have made their way down there. so I know that I will have to clean it out at least. But as soon as my case is open I will update you guys.
