michaud321 Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 im looking into a 421 t-rex cylinder kit with powervalve in the description of the kit it says to run a 4mill crank do you need the 4 mill or can you run a stock crank with that kit?? would i be able to run this kit with stock carbs?? would i be able to run a 390-404 t-rex or cheetah cylinder kits(cylinder and pistons) with stock carbs Quote
2001Stroker Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 Negative. 4mil cylinders need 4mm stroker cranks. The ports won't be lined up correctly. And stock carbs on a t-rex or cub? I don't think so. You're gonna need AT LEAST 33's, to make that thing not starve. I have a set of stock cylinders, and a 4mil with 35mm carbs. Don't use those stock 26mm carbs. Unless you get some serious machine work done to them. Quote
michaud321 Posted November 29, 2008 Author Report Posted November 29, 2008 alright thanks i figured but just wanted to make sure so lets say with the 392 cylinder kit with stock crank and a aftermarket head, a 33 or 35 mm carbs will be good? how much HP would that setup bring me up to with pump gas????? 2001Stroker Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 so lets say with the 392 cylinder kit with stock crank and a aftermarket head, a 33 or 35 mm carbs will be good? Your best bet for horsepower gains, is to stroke it. But if you want to just go bigger bore, I have a set of 66mm jugs and pistons, mild port, that are getting ready to go up for sale soon. Only have about 20 hours on them, if that. I'm getting a 68mm cub. I am also debating on getting rid of my 4mm longrod crank, and going with a 10mm crank. Money is what's holding me back there. Quote
blanco25 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) dont mess with the t-rex cylinder. If you do you want to be running 10mill stroker crank. otherwise just do yourself a favor and run a cub. People can make stock ported cylinders run harder than the t-rex i know from experience. oh yeah at least some 35mm air strykers for the t-rex set up. Edited November 30, 2008 by blanco25 Quote
michaud321 Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 what would be the best HP gains with keeping my stock crank? Quote
blanco25 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 have Hjr or FAST drag port it. Get some 35mm keihins, shearers or cpi's, custom domes for coolhead and run alky, and plenty of timing. That set up tunened right, will give many banshee's bad dreams. I haven't ran alky yet but i plan to in a couple of weeks. I have a hjr dune port and i give many cubs and stroked out stockers problems. 450 aren't even on the same hill it seems like. Give one of those builders a call and you wont regret it. Quote
trex banshee Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 trex can be built to run, but like already said they are usually bigger cc's and cost alot more! i say go for it! but then again i like my old school shit...it aint the fastest by no means but its fun  Quote
