For a buddies shee:

 

what should we start off with on jetting for these, it came with 280's

 

Dual 34mm mikuni flats

pods

wiseco prolite's 65mm bore/stock crank

cool head 21cc domes

fmf fattys

timing @+2

V-force 3

stock port

sea level

That's a lot of carb for a stock port shee with fatty's, but I'd say you will be roughly in the 230 to 240 range on the mains.

 

really? since the carbs are flowing more air wouldnt the mains be bigger? he had 320's on stock carbs and blew holes in the pistons in glamis it was running waaaay too lean....

Well, if he was running lean with 320's in the stockers then start with the 280's that come with the carbs and work your way down may end up around 250-260. Do a plug chop to verify your jetting. The larger volume of air will draw more fuel through the main, that's why you will end up with a smaller jet.

A larger carb won't pull as hard on the jet because of the decreased velocity and you will need a larger jet.

 

I ran those carbs on my stock stroke and ran 270's I believe, but I'm at high elevation.
