grpark20 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 (edited) It looks like some sort of sleeve on the bottome of the base cylinder studs. What is the circled part??? Do I need it, how do I get it out? Three of them are in the top case half and one in the cylinder. Also how do you remove a stripped stud? Click links to see pics. http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp83/gr...20/DSCN0390.jpg http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp83/gr...20/DSCN0392.jpg Edited November 11, 2008 by grpark20 Quote
grpark20 Posted November 11, 2008 Author Report Posted November 11, 2008 After using the SEARCH I figured out what it is and what its used for. Any special way to get them out? Also any way to get the damn stripped stud out? Or just buy new cases....drain bolt stripped too...Bad week. Quote
THE GRIM RIPPER Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I used a torch to get one stripped stud out of my case.... I wouldnt recommend it tho unless you have used torches in the past and know what your doing... you could really mess the cases up.. As for the dowel pin........ Pry until you get it all out if shes wedged in there, just be gentle on the cases Also for the stud if you arent going for the heat method (torches) You can also try welding a good size nut to it.... Then simply turn it out, BUT if the stud starts to twist or it seems like it could snap..... Stop immediatly, you definatly dont want it snapping flush with the case. If this happens, dont go any further until you get someone who knows how to use torches and heat the case to get the stud out. And for the drain bolt.... Heli ciol..... Man just ship the cases to me lol Quote

grpark20 Posted November 11, 2008 Author Report Posted November 11, 2008 Thanks for the replies..... I'm going to go ahead and split the cases, then turn the top case upside down and lock the stud in a vise really good and see if I can spin the top half case off the stud, being theres just one stud left it might work?.....If it doesn't work, I'm just going to get another set of cases.....I'm sure the torch method would work, but the way the weeks starting I'm liable to burn down the house. So I'm going to plan on buying cases and then if I have to I won't be surprised. Quote

Wildcardracing Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I don't remember what size right off the top of my head, but I use a drill bit that fits snug in the dowl...then I can clamp on it without mashing it to get it out. Haven't had one that I couldn't get out yet  Quote
