T_Shee Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 i recently got my quad and it has a +7 degree timing key. i no a lot of you are gonna say these are junk and im gonna do away with it within the next week or so. but i have rode it qute a bit and it runs really strong and im extremely happy with it. i wanna take it out this weekend proly for the last time of the year. my question is what gas should i run. ive beren running 94 octane and it seems to be fine but could mix in some 110 if you think i should. it has t5 pipes, pwk 35's bored .080 with stock stroke and port. i ride in central IN (not sure of elevation). also im jetted a little rich to be safe. i run repsol oil at 40:1. i measured my compression last night and im at 137 and 140psi. i had my head cut to make my squish .045". let me know what you guys think...i just dont wanna risk hurting anything if my octane isnt high enough. LS1Inferno Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 you deffinatly need higher octane for 7degrees and that is way overkill. get a plate and set it for 4 for premium pump gas and higher if you want, Quote
J-Madd Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Not sure about +7 timing and your compression with pump gas...but why do you have 35 mm pwks and a stock port motor? Your killing the potential of the motor with carbs with big. You don't have enough intake velocity for those. Or do you mean a 2 into 1 35 mm PWK..that would make more sense. Quote

278 Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Yeah for +7 timing you should run a higher octane, but as far as everything else... yeah sounds like he did like over kill. he has T-5's and bored it and is running +7 timing and 35's? Apparently he didn't know what he was doing Quote
THE GRIM RIPPER Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 I didnt know they made a 7 degree woodruff key? Quote
T_Shee Posted November 7, 2008 Author Report Posted November 7, 2008 yeah the guy was pretty much a jerkoff but i wanted a banshee so i went for it. he told me the key was +7 then i checked the receipts he gave me and sure enough it is. anyway you think im better off to go back to stock timing before i ride again since i dont think ill be able to get any 110 before then? i know the mods sound like overkill but i am really shocked at how good this thing runs. it does lack a tad of bottom end but not as bad as you might think, then on top it really runs out good.
