i had a 440ex with stage three hotcam port n polish and fmf exhaust and i can tell you me shee is faster than the honda i had. my shee has only been bored a bit with bigger carbs and t5 pipes. the biggest factor for you will be traction. if you can get on a hard surface like asphalt or hard packed dirt you should be fine. if its soft dirt or grass you will spin off the start and he will get a jump on you (if he can ride) but if you make the stretch long enough you will run him down no problem. 400's are 5 speeds and you have to mod the hell outa them to even hit 40 horse.

Your launch is goin to be most important..Start in 2nd if you bike can pull it but i dont see you having a problem at all..

they have a ton of torque but arent fast, you should take the win easily..

o0o0o yea and get some video..

I agree with wacko2000, 2nd gear start will help. Also it helps me with a good staight start if I really have my rear tire pressure matched side to side. I run 3 1/2 lbs in cut knarlys for dirt/grass drags. Amazing traction, spin greatly reduced. If you can, a few practice starts would get you a good idea for your best conbination of seat position & shift duration. You should take him, but that start is key.

You can have a fast quad but if you dont know how to ride then im going to say your not going to be fast at all. Like that one guy doing some hammer shifting that got sucked off his bike...LOL but ya traction is a big key and if you can heat the tires up if your on the streets and practice doing launches. I have gone through a clutch just learning on how the fade and launch the shit out of the SHE. And get video of this. you have time to prep so get it done. oh and check your rear tire press.

I've raced a 440ex with my girls ride, fmf fatties is all it had at the time. ran him probably 5 times with the same results, me winning. this was with stock tires dropping the hammer in 3rd on dusty ground.. the guy wasn't happy especially when he asked what all I had done to it and all he got for an answer was pipes lol im not saying you will win though I've got 10 years logged on a shee I can ride the guts out of them, but you shouldn't lose and I sure as hell wouldn't wanna see a vid of a shee losing to an ex.. race the dude and see, stay away from the modded 450''s tell you get more mods those will run you down with justa piped bike
