2stroker350 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Ive always had 2 stroke dirtbikes, and currently have a 2006 kx 250 bike that is built with all the bells and whistles ect. Never even considered a quad until recently my old lady and her family all have quads (some 450r's and some 400's) and ive been watching quads on youtube so im gonna get one. Bein a 2 stroke guy i automaticaly wanted a banshee and i hear they are just sick and with little work can rip on modded 450's. the thing is i like doin wheelies fast and slow, douhnuts im sure are fun, and the occasional trail ride, and everyone keeps tellin me dont get a banshee. i will be riding at sand mountain here in CA alot but plan on riding around showin the old lady how to ride better and stuff, so should i get a banshee? i dont mind mixing fuel at all ive been doin it since i was 14, and i dont mind changing spark plus and top ends and stuff....but is a 450 a better choice or can i do anything i want on a banshee. PS i found one for 3000 its a 2005 special aniversary with carbs, bored out, exhaust and so much more, is this a deal? thanks for any feedback from my fellow 2 strokers i can use it Quote
Titan up Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Get a banshee you won't be disapointed. Less a MX track the banshee will do anything a 450 will do, with twice the fun. You being a 2 stroke guy, you'll appreciate having the banshee and its power delivery, and also the sheer fact that everyone is telling you not to get one  Snap some pics and get some more details on that 05 and we'll be able to help ya out a little bit more. DallasGDub Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) I did the same. This is my first quad. I came off a 2 stroke YZ125. I went with the shee b/c I was use to the motor and knew the power of a twin cycl 350 would be wrist breaking with the right mods. I was looking for bang for the buck....I also like the way I would go to parks and I would remember every single shee I seen riding that day. I could not tell you shit about the other quads that were out. They all looked the same to me. the shee sticks out anywehre you are. What I know so far in what little time I have been on one......I will let the others cover the tech aspects, but here is my point of view. Everything is a little more exciting and I seem to have more fun doing the normal stuff than the people I ride with. Yeah you can go fast on a 450, yeah they can go just about go anywhere.....but Nothing..I mean nothing is like being in that 3/4 throttle sweet spot with a ported motor in a 4th gear powerban on a narrow ass trail. It is eye opening to say the least. You feel the front wheels pulling up off the ground from raw power, not just torque.......you get pulled back on your seat and just hold on...the motor sounds like you just gave it a 10 shot of NOS...your thinking "I should let off a little"....but you dont.....hard to explain. I say you find a way to ride both. You will see what I mean. Both quads are great. And as long as you ride, who cares what you roll. Have fun with it. I would love to have a YFZ450 to ride and jump around on until the next best thing comes along each year. But no matter what, I will always have a Shee on the side. I am glad I made the choice I did. bbcmudtruck Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 If your a two stroke guy, then do it! I have rode the kx, yfz, and the honda 450s. They all have one thing in common, stiff suspension and not to mention how boring the power delivery is. For trial riding, you can build your shee accordingly. All the 450s look the same, I have yet to ride with a banshee that looks like mine. Ryan Quote
278 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I agree, I was used to riding bikes too, but this last summer I saw a deal on a banshee i couldnt pass up. I love it! They are a unique quad and can be used for anything. You wont be disappointed when your old lady's family is wondering why the only view they ever see is the back of your shee. I'd say do it for sure especially if you a 2-stroke guy. Quote
