My Banshee (optional)

  1. Looking for someone to clear the confusion on aftermarket banshee needles. My current build has stock needles and has a dead spot off idle. I tried various pilot sizes and settings along with needle clip adjustments and main sizes and I still cannot fully solve it. Engine passed leak test so its not a lean condition. I tried a set of Toomey needles out of my buddy's bike and they cleared the issue immediately. Bike pulls hard right off of idle and makes power everywhere in the rpm range. If I have to pay the $50 for the Toomey needles off their site I will, but I'd like an explanation on the difference between all of the companies that make needles for banshees. 1. What are the major differences between them all? (Dynojet, Moose, FMF, Toomey, Vitos, and the ones from FAST) One of the banshee guys local to me told me they are all the same Dynojet-based needle and are just rebranded. This looks like it may be accurate as the Toomey, FMF, and Dynojet needles all look the same with the machine cut tip and 6 clip positions. 2. Due to how expensive needles are, I've considered the needles from FAST but I'm curious if they are the same needle as the toomeys but with one less clip position. Any information on these specifically will be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hey guys, I have a question about jetting for my application that I'm installing when it comes in the mail next week. Heres what I purchased to install on my 2005 Banshee. 370 Big Bore Ported Kit, Pro design cool heads with 21mil domes, v-force reed valves, new 28 mm dual pwk carb kit with k&n filters and outerwares, toomey t6 exhaust. No stock airbox I live in Nashville,TN and ride trails and woods mostly with a little street drag if I wanna play around a little. My question is what jets should I use with this set up? Any response would be greatly appreciated and also I'm new to this forum so thanks in advance!
  3. I just build a 10mm Serval cub (465) as cast. I'm running pods, 35mm carbs, chariot intakes, VF4 reeds, chariot cool head with 24cc domes (kicking compression 155lbs), shearer SB in frames. Timing is set at +5 with all stock ignition minus the timing plate. Fuel of choice right now is Avgas mixed 50:1 with Amsoil. Leakdown test held 6lbs solid for 1.5 hours. Right now I'm running into a problem that im hoping you guys can help me with. Im running 42 pilots, 135 mains, cgm needle on top clip. My machine is acting rich but i feel like im way to low to go any leaner. When my machine gets under heavy load like when hill shooting it has a hard time staying in the powerband. as if my pipes can't clear and its bogging out. Here are a few video clips of me out testing and tuning let me know what you guys think. This was with a 148 main this was with the 142 main I picked up more speed with a 140, 138, 135.... but im worried about being way to lean. Any other issues you guys might be able to lead me toward or is it just a jetting deal is all?
  4. installed a set of brand new toomey t5s a few days ago and had it jetted nice and everything and it was working awesome and pullin hard, but today it was workin like crap from the second i had started it. it has trouble opening up unless i clutch it and in 5th and sixth gear i cant get it to open up at all. today was raining and pretty damp if that might make a difference. tried new plugs even though it was running on two cylinders. stock except for t5s, uni filter and no air box lid. never checked compression yet but was working 100% when i parked it.
