  1. I’m looking to purchase a set of nerf bars for my Banshee. I’ve been looking on RMATV, Motorsport.com and also on eBay and there is multiple styles and different brands to choose from. To get this out of the way I would really like to try and keep my stock heel guards. So, now I’m trying to decide which ones to buy. What’s everyone’s thoughts and opinion on the best brand to buy? Thanks Jake
  2. So.. yesterday one of my friends that I ride with and I went to the local dealership because he needed some Klotz Super Techniplate. He wanted to buy 4 -16 oz bottles of it and when he picked up the 16 oz bottles of it he said something doesn’t feel right about the bottle. So then he picked up another one on the shelf and he said that it didn’t feel right either. So we went through all the ones that were on the shelf and they didn’t feel right either. So we got the parts department manager and told him about it and he came over to check it out and he agreed and said something isn’t right with the bottles. He then took them all off the shelf and put them on the counter and he checked them out and they all had the same manufacturer lot # and date code. So then he took one and opened it and the bottle was factory sealed from klotz and no signs of it being tampered with. He then went on to checked the content inside the bottle and it was fine. He then went into the service area and came back with a ratio rite cup and dumped the entire bottle of klotz into it and then we found the problem. The bottle that was labeled to have 16 ounces only contained 14 ounce. So for all the guys who buy the 16 ounce bottle of any type of 2 stroke oil and mix it with 4 gallons of gas, start checking to make sure you are getting the FULL 16 ounces of 2 stroke oil. Sorry for the long post. Jake
  3. I own a set of CST Pulse HT’s mounted on my stock wheels and I have a set of Kenda Klaw XC’s mounted on my alba racing beadlock wheels. I have only owned the 2 sets of tires for a couple months now. I love both sets and it’s really hard to pick which one is better because they both perform about the same on the type of terrain that I ride on. Good luck on which ones you choose to purchase Up north rider. Jake.
  4. Thank you so much locogato11283 for the quick reply and for the helpful information. I got everything that I needed from Driveline and ATV Galaxy. I even found on ATV Galaxy’s eBay store that they had the TM case save so I also ordered that also. Thanks Jake
  5. So.. Over this past weekend I did 2 days of riding and when I got home Sunday night I noticed an issue. Please bare with me as I try to describe some of the parts that I need to replace. First is the upper chain roller came apart and all that remains is the bearing and a small spacer / collar. The lower chain roller is starting to come apart as well. The other part that came apart is a plastic part that looks like a bigger chain roller that rides on the swing arm on the same side as the chain side. I’m also looking into purchasing a case saver, new chain, new sprockets and anything else that needs to be replaced. Any recommendations would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Jake
  6. What’s up fella’s!! So I have been riding my Banshee for the past 2 days here with my friends and the outside temps have been in the 60’s with no humidity. I noticed that the coolant reservoir tank keeps running dry but the radiator level is perfectly fine. I don’t think it’s getting hot enough to overheating either. When I let it cool down and remove the radiator cap it makes a slight pop sound from releasing the pressure. I spent last night checking the complete coolant system for any type of leaks and didn’t find any hose clamps loose or out of place. I even removed the reservoir tank and blocked off where the hoses connect to the reservoir and filled up my kitchen sink with water to see if the reservoir tank has a leak and that was good. I then refilled the reservoir tank with 50/50 mixed coolant and then warmed it up and then let it sit and run idle for about 20 minutes and I even revved it up a little bit and nothing was leaking then I looked to see if there were any bubbles backing up in the reservoir tank and I didn’t see any bubbles. Then I checked to see if the coolant was leaking into the transmission and mixing with the transmission oil and that was perfectly fine. I pulled both spark plugs and they both are fine and are a light tan / coco color. I’m sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out what the heck is causing this issue. Here’s my question. Is this a common problem with Banshees or is there something else wrong? Thanks, Jake
  7. If you got that gut feeling about them then trust your gut and find a Banshee that is for sale locally where you live or one that is in a reasonable driving distance. I found my mint condition 05 Special Edition Banshee for a good price from a local collector. Good Luck!
  8. The guy that I purchased my 05 Special Edition from had a whole collection of Banshees from 1987-2008 that were not in crates. I just happen to find him selling a couple of them that he had doubles of.
  9. I went and purchased the oem Yamaha fuel shut off valve. The guy at the parts counter at the dealership said the same exact thing about the dual pingle fuel valve. I got it installed and now everything is back together and working perfectly again . Thanks, Jake
  10. So.. I took my banshee out for a ride earlier today around my house for about an hour or so and when I went to shut the fuel valve off to let it idle until the carburetors were empty of fuel it started to leak fuel from the part that turns. I removed the fuel line and the fuel still flows with the valve turned off so then I removed the fuel tank and drained all of the fuel out of the tank. So my question is should I buy a rebuild kit for the shut off valve or just buy a whole new shut off valve? My local dealership has an oem yamaha valve for $45 bucks or a dual feed pingle brand for $127 bucks. What would be the better option for me? My banshee is basically stock other than the exhaust and air filter setup. Thanks, Jake
  11. Thank You JerzOutlaw350 for the recommendation on the Kenda Klaw XC tires. I didn’t expect to go riding today with my buddies because of all the rain we got yesterday but they called me early this morning and wanted to know if I wanted to go riding and I didn’t hesitate and went riding and boy I’m very happy with the way tires performed. Thanks, Jake
  12. I got my wheels from Alba Racing today and I’m very pleased on the quality of the wheels. I also picked up a set of Kenda Klaw XC’s. I couldn’t pass up the deal that they sold them to me for. So now I have something to do tomorrow while it’s raining here. Thanks again, Jake

  14. Thanks for the advice on the tires guys! I missed out on what they had in stock in the CST pulse tires because I got stuck out on the road for work yesterday and I finally made it home today and right after work I went to pick up a set and they were sold out. So I got a couple more days to search around to see what I can find before the sale ends on Monday. On the other hand according to Alba Racing and the tracking number they gave me it says that I should have the wheels by Friday. Thanks, Jake
  15. So.. as you all know by now I’m new but also at the same time late to the Banshee world. I recently bought a mint condition 2005 Special Edition Banshee a little over a week ago. Yesterday I took her out for the first time and I had one hell of a blast and I should have bought a Banshee years ago. So… I’m looking to replace the stock Dunlop tires. I’m going to be riding in a variety of different terrains. I was at my local dealership and they are having a tire sale until Monday 3/4/24. Here’s what they have in stock and on sale for tires.*(6 ply) CST Pulse - $375 *(6 ply) Kenda Havok XC - $325 *(6 ply) Kenda Klaw XC - $315 *(6 ply) Maxxis Razr - $350 *(6 ply) GBC XC Master - $340 *(6 ply) Itp Holeshot XCR - Way Over Priced *(6 ply) Sedona Bazooka XC - $330 I didn’t want to mess around with having my stock tires and wheels dismounted to just use my oem wheels so I just went ahead and ordered a set of Alba Racing’s Black on Black Bead lock wheels. What’s your opinion on which tires? Thanks, Jake
  16. So….Yesterday I got to finally take my Banshee out riding since I bought it and and boy did I have a blast riding it. I should’ve bought a Banshee years ago. She ran really well and the power was more than I expected as well as the throttle response was nice and crisp. The only thing that I noticed is that the stock tires were mediocre and I expected them to perform a lot better than what they did. I did look at the tires that my friends were using on their ATV’s. I asked them about the brand of tires that they use and they said that anything is better than the stock tires that comes on the ATV from the factory. Then there was something else I forgot to buy the other day when I was at the dealership because I was so excited about taking her out riding on Sunday was, I forgot to buy a helmet and chest protector, goggles and gloves. I was lucky that my one friend carries a extra helmet, chest protector, goggles and gloves in his trailer. So.. Today I’m off to the dealership to shop for some riding gear and then I’m going to do some research and look around for a better set of tires and wheels. Then I’m going to take the stock tires and wheels off and put them off to the shelf in my basement. I’ll make a post about tires and wheels later today and see what everybody’s options are on that topic. Thanks, Jake
  17. Thanks ClaudeMachining! Yeah I should’ve also took the advice that JerzOutlaw350 gave as well on the type of gas to run. I found a local Sunoco gas station that sells 95 octane ethanol free gasoline at the pump for $4.45 a gallon. I’ll just take the other 5 gallon drum of VP C-12 I have and save it and dump it into my street bike. Thanks Again Jake
  18. This is what I purchased from my local dealership for my first riding trip on Sunday with my Banshee. I bought 4 NGK BR8ES spark plugs, Bel-Ray chain lube, 2 bottles of Bel-Ray 80w Gear Saver and 2 - 5 gallon drums of VP C-12. I have the drain plug out and letting the transmission oil drain out overnight. So… my question is did I make a purchase good for my Banshee? Thanks Jake
  19. Thank you so much JerzOutlaw350 for all the useful information that you’ve been giving. So yesterday I did the compression test and a leak down test on the engine. Compression test was left cylinder (shifter side) 139psi and right cylinder (rear brake pedal side) 140psi and did each cylinder twice to make sure it was correct and came back with the same result. I received the leak down test kit from South Texas Banshee and then I went to work on doing the leak down test. Before I did anything I went onto South Texas Banshee’s YouTube channel and watched the video and I followed his instructions on how to perform the test. The engine held 6psi for 6+ minutes. I also made a soap and water solution and sprayed all around the top end and didn’t see any signs of foaming bubbles or any signs of bubbles around any of the gasket areas. I had plans of going to my local dealership after work today to pick up a few things. I was going to get some extra spark plugs, some chain lube, a 5 gallon fuel jug and oil so I can change the transmission oil. I can get a good quality 93 octane gas locally and I also can get high quality race gas locally as well. I’ll have to look into that e-free gasoline that you are talking about too. Thanks Jake
  20. Thanks guys for the suggestions and advice. I really do appreciate it very much. I wound up going online with VP racing and ordered a case of their brand of 2 stroke oil. They said that I should have it on Monday. I’m going to take the Banshee out riding this coming Sunday with a couple of buddies and I can’t wait. It gets kinda boring just riding around my house. 2👍👍for this awesome site!! Thanks Jake
  21. Thank for the quick replies guys! I did ask him a few questions before I got to start it up. I did check the coolant level in the radiator and over flow bottle and also checked the transmission oil level. I did get to hear it run and It did start with 2 kicks with stone cold engine using the choke. I also did kill the engine a couple of times and it did start right back up with 1 kick. I also checked to see if there was pressure buildup coming out of where the dip stick screws in. I also got to test ride it before I paid for it and he also gave me a 30 day written warranty. I asked him when the last time it was ridden and he said early November. He told me that throughout the time it sits and not being ridden he uses a plastic container that he fills with a little bit of fuel and hangs from a beam and he removes fuel line that connects to the fuel shut off valve and connects the fuel line from the hanging plastic container and he would start it up a couple of times a month. I ordered a clymer repair manual and I also ordered a leak down test kit from the South Texas Banshee Guy. I’m borrowing a compression tester from a friend of mine. I spent some of my time yesterday looking over everything like the front & rear brake system, all of the rubber hoses, the front and back tires, chain and sprockets, rear axle bearings, front hub bearings, upper and lower a-arm bearings, swing arm bearings, suspension bearings and everything else seems nice and tight. I don’t see any signs of any fluids leaking either. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed. As for the 2 stroke pre mix oil he gave me a 1 liter bottle of VP Racing X2 1050 full synthetic 2T off road formula. The bottle seems pretty new and the cap seal doesn’t look broken or anything. My only problem is that it’s not available locally for me to purchase. I can order it online straight from VP themselves. That’s why I’m asking if it’s safe to change the brand of 2 stroke oil? What would be the best to use? Thank you JerzOutlaw 350 & ClaudeMachining
  22. First off Good Afternoon Fellas! I would like to introduce myself and my name Jake. I would like to first apologize for the long post here but I am new to this whole Banshee thing. I have been trolling the site for a few weeks now learning as much information as possible about the Yamaha Banshee. So today I decided that I would join the BansheeHQ community. I’ll have to say that this site is very resourceful with a lot of information for a new banshee owner like me. So. this past weekend I purchased a very clean, low hour and a very well maintained (I’m the 2nd owner) 2005 Yamaha Banshee Special Edition that is basically stock other than the aftermarket exhaust system and air filter setup. The previous owners gave me the original owner manual and tool kit with it. He said he had the exhaust system and air filter installed at the time of purchase and that they also jetted carburetors according to the exhaust and air filter setup. He told me that he only ran 6 tanks of fuel through it since it was new. It spent its time sitting in a climate controlled environment covered up sitting off the ground. Now to the main question. The owner gave me a brand new bottle of 2 stroke pre mix oil that he used in it from the time it was brand new and told me to mix it at 32:1. Now my concern is would it hurt to change the oil brand or should I buy what he used in it ? Thanks in advance. Jake
